2025 WSOP: Ian Johns Wins Fourth Bracelet in $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship

Ian Johns 2025 WSOP Event #41: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship Bracelet Winner

The 2025 World Series of Poker continued at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas with one of the most classic formats in the game, a good old-fashioned Limit Hold’em. Event #41: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship drew a field of 118 entries, generating a prize pool of $1,097,400 and attracting some of the most respected names in poker.

With a star-studded final table that boasted a combined 20 WSOP bracelets, it was an old-school grinder Ian Johns who came out on top, claiming his fourth career bracelet and the $282,455 first-place prize. A true Limit Hold’em specialist, Johns has been grinding this format since the early days of his career, and this marks his third bracelet in this specific variant. He previously won the $3,000 Limit Hold’em event in 2006 and this very $10,000 Championship event in 2016. That same summer, he also captured the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. title. With this win, Johns now has $2 million in life tournament earnings.

In the heads-up, Johns denied the elusive bracelet to one of poker’s most iconic figures: Viktor “Isildur1” Blom. The Swedish legend was perhaps the crowd’s favorite going into the final stretches of the tournament, and although he came close to breaking it through again, the gold continues to evade him. This second-place for $188,295 marks his highest finish at the WSOP to date, adding to a list of deep runs that now includes a second, two thirds, two fourths, and two fifths.

2025 WSOP Event #41: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship Final Table Recap

Nine players returned for the final day of the $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship, and as said, it was a star-studded final table. Among them, only two players had yet to win a WSOP bracelet, and one of them was Viktor Blom, who entered the day as the chip leader with 38 big bets. Ryan Bambrick sat just behind with 29, while others like Daniel Negreanu, Anthony Zinno, and Ian Johns were lurking with experience.

Scott Bohlman, who had already secured a bracelet earlier this summer, came in with just three big bets. His hopes were dashed early, even with pocket aces, which couldn’t hold against Max Hoffman’s suited queen-jack that hit a flush on the river. Bohlman exited in ninth for $25,687.

Negreanu was the second shortest to start and suffered a similar fate. He committed with ace-ten on a board of 4982, only to run into David Lieberman’s queen-nine with an addition of a flush draw. The river 10 hit Negreanu, but Lieberman completed his flush. The seven-time bracelet winner was gone in eighth place for $31,316.

Despite the newfound chips, Lieberman couldn’t ride the momentum. After losing a key pot to Zinno, he put in his last bet with jack-deuce against Hoffman’s pocket nines. The board ran A27310, not enough help and Lieberman was out in seventh for $39,349.

There seems to be a pattern going on. After scoring two knockouts, Max Hoffman became the next casualty. He and Pedro Neves both flopped top pair aces, but Neves held ace-king against Hoffman’s ace-queen and the superior kicker sent Hoffman packing in sixth place for $50,915.

Then came a wild hand involving Bambrick, Neves, and Zinno. Bambrick opened, Neves three-bet, and Zinno came over the top with a four-bet. On a 22J flop, Zinno continued, Bambrick raised, Neves called, and Zinno three-bet to put Bambrick at risk. The K turn saw Zinno bet again, Neves called, and both players checked the 4 river. Bambrick showed ace-ten, Neves had king-queen, but Zinno scooped it all with ace-king, eliminating Bambrick in fifth for $67,783.

Neves was left with just a few big bets but impressively rebuilt his stack … only to lose it all again. in his last hand he tangled with Ian Johns. On a 105Q10 board, Neves went all-in with 52 and Johns called with KQ. The river 9 bricked, and the Portuguese had to settle for fourth and $92,774.

Three-handed play between Zinno, Blom, and Johns dragged on for more than three hours, with all three exchanging leads and testing each other. Eventually, Zinno commited with king-ten and ran into Johns’ ace-nine. The board came 7477Q, offering Zinno no help. The five-time bracelet winner exited in third for $130,447.

That left Ian Johns with a commanding chip lead over Viktor Blom and he never let it go.

On the final hand, Johns opened, and Blom three-bet. Blom fired again on the 536 flop, and Johns called. When the 10 hit the turn, Johns raised Blom’s bet, and the Swede moved all-in. Blom revealed queen-nine suited for a flush draw, but Johns had ace-ten for top pair. The river K was a blank, and that sealed it.

Ian Johns claimed his third Limit Hold’em bracelet and fourth overall, along with $282,455 in prize money. Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, once again denied his first WSOP gold, earned $188,295 for his runner-up finish.
