“I’ve dedicated my entire life to being very good at this game. Every person in here is trying to win. It’s not like these guys have been around for 2 or 3 years. You’re talking to guys who have multiple decades of resumes, and somehow, we’re still here, and we’re playing the biggest game and winning. It’s amazing,” said Koon to PokerNews after the win.
This marks Jason Koon’s second WSOP bracelet, adding to his 2021 victory in the prestigious $25,000 Heads-Up Championship, where he defeated Gabor Szabo in the finals.
“It’s all possible because of her. Stumbling home at 1 a.m. after bagging to wake up and help me get ready and not expect much from me. On days when poker is slow for me, I am all in as being a dad and try to pick up the slack the best that I can. But without her, I couldn’t do any of this,” Koon also added about how much his wife helps him.

2025 WSOP Event #32: $50,000 High Roller Final Table Recap
Coming onto the final table, Jason Koon was the big chip leader with 92 big blinds ahead of Andrew Lichtenberger, who was in second place with 46 big blinds.
The first elimination happened after Lichtenberger opened from MP, Chongxian Yang shoved from CO, Aliaksei Boika 4-bet, and Lichtenberger called.
The flop came 7♠7♣5♠ and everybody checked. The turn was 4♦; Boika checked, and Lichtenberger bet; Boika folded. Yang was in an all-in bad spot with K♦Q♥ against Lichtenberger’s Q♠Q♦. The river was J♦, and Yang was out in ninth place for $161,048.

The next elimination came after Lichtenberger opened from LP, Boika 3-bet from BTN, and Lichtenberger called. The flop came 10♥Q♠4♦, Lichtenberger checked, Boika bet and Lichtenberger called. The turn was A♠, Lichtenberger checked, Boika went for another bet, but this time smaller. Lichtenberger raised, and Boika called after tanking.
The river came 7♥, Lichtenberger shoved, and Boika called. Boika showed trips of aces with A♣A♥, but Lichtenberger turned a straight with K♣J♣, and Boika was eliminated in eighth place for $203,919.
Aliaksei Boika
Reagan Silber was next in the line as he pushed his short stack in the middle from HJ. He got called by Sergey Lebedev in CO, and others folded. Reagan Silber was ahead with A♦K♦ against Lebedev’s K♠Q♠, but the flop A♣J♠9♠ gave Lebev so many outs. The turn was 2♠, and it was game over for Silber. The river came 6♠, eliminating Reagan Silber in seventh place for $263,944.

Swedish legend Viktor Bloom, aka “Isildur,” shoved from BTN, and Koon asked for a count and made a call in SB. Bloom was dominated with A♦6♦ against Koon’s A♠10♠, and the dealer rolled 10♣7♠3♥, leaving Bloom’s chances slim, the turn rame Q♣, and the river was 8♣.
Viktor Bloom was eliminated in sixth place for $349,068.

Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger shoved from SB, and Sergey Lebedev was at risk after he made a quick call in BB. Lebedev was behind with A♦8♦ against Lichtenberger’s A♥Q♦, and the board ran Q♥10♥2♠3♥A♠, giving Lichtenberger a smooth outcome and eliminating Lebedev in fifth place for $471,473.

Lichtenberger was again an eliminator when he opened from CO, Brock Wilson 3-bet from BTN; Lichtenberger shoved, covering Wilson, who just called.
Same as the last elimination, Lichtenberger had A♥Q♥, and his opponent Wilson was on A♠8♦. The board 10♠3♦6♣J♣3♠ ran smoothly for Lichtenberger, and Wilson was out in fourth place for $650,074.
Brock Wilson
Lichtenberger continued cleaning the table and shoved from SB just to get called by Ben Tollerene in BB. This time Lichtenberger was behind with 10♠7♠ against A♠10♦ of Tollerene, but it didn’t matter as the board rolled out 7♥6♦5♦J♠4♠ and Lichtenberger was the winner again. Tollerene was out in third place for $914,634.

The Heads-Up
Coming into the heads-up, even with all the eliminations, Lichtenberger was still a 2:1 underdog in chips but still had plenty to turn things around and take the title; nothing was over yet.
After one hour of heads-up battle, the last hand happened when Lichtenberger shoved his short stack from BTN, and Koon called in BB. Lichtenberger was ahead with A♠10♦ against Koon’s K♦Q♠, but this time board 2♠K♥J♥8♦7♣ decided that Koon is the new champion, eliminating Lichtenberger in second place for $1,312,610.
