Lonny Weitzel triumphed over 3,338 competitors in the 2025 World Series of Poker Event #64, the $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em, securing his first WSOP bracelet and a $356,494 prize at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. All the entries managed to bloat the prize pool up to $2,937,440.
Lady luck also smiled at Weitzel when he managed to hit one of his two outers in a heads-up against Damir Stefanic, whose pocket queens were cracked by Weitzel’s pocket eights.
“I just felt it was a good spot, and of course, no one wants to look at a dominated hand, but then just the relief when you look up, and you realize you just won the tournament…It’s just an amazing way to go,” said Weitzel.

The Final Table
At the start of the final table action, Zaher Sayegh was the first to hit the rail, and it was after one hand he played. He was slightly ahead with pocket tens against ace-king, but his set on the turn wasn’t enough as Huston hit straight on the river to eliminate him in ninth place for $35,872.
After eliminating Sayegh, it was Huston’s turn to go home, and it happened after all the money went in preflop and his A♦7♦ couldn’t hit the third diamond on the turn or river against Stefanic, who had A♠Q♠. Huston was eliminated in eighth place for $45,920.
Wesley Cameron was next to leave. It was a limped three-way pot in which money went in on the flop. His diamond flush draw didn’t connect against Weitzel, who had the top pair of aces, which held to the river. Cameron was eliminated in seventh place for $59,243.
Richard Frandsen shoved from BTN and got called by Martin Kohler in SB. Frandsen was in a bad spot with pocket sixes against pocket queens of Kohler, who hit top set on the flop to close the deal. Frandsen was eliminated in sixth place for $77,025.

Weitzel continued with eliminations, and his next victim was Lawrence Whyte, who shoved from BB against Weitzels UTG open and got called. Whyte had ace-ten and was against pocket kings. The board wasn’t of any help for Whyte, who was out in fifth place, $100,915.
Weitzel was just pushing the gas pedal to the floor when BB open-called another shove, this time from Martin Kohler. This time, Weitzel didn’t have pocket kings, but he had pocket aces, and Kohler was in an awful spot with his ace-ten. The board ran clean for Weitzel’s pocket aces, and Kohler was eliminated in fourth place for $133,228.
Richard Jutte shoved from BTN, and Stefanic called in SB. Stefanic had K♥6♥, and Jutte had the edge with A♠K♣. However, the board with three hearts on the flop gave Stefanic almost the nuts, which then turned and the river confirmed. Jutte was eliminated in third place for $177,222.
The Heads-Up
Before the first hand was played in the heads-up match, the stack sizes were similar, and we could say it was a 50-50 situation with both players shooting for the first place and a prize of $356,494.
In the last hand, Weitzel limped from BTN, Stefanic raised, Weitzel shoved, and Stefanic snap-called. Stefanic was covered but was a big favorite with Q♠Q♥ against 8♣8♦ of Weitzel. The board came 6♥9♠8♠K♣A♣, giving Weitzel a shocking set on the flop, and he only had to dodge two cards to win the event. Weitzel’s set did hold, and he eliminated Stefanic in second place for $237,521.
