Shaun Deeb wins World Series of Poker Event #79: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller for $2,957,229 and his seventh WSOP bracelet after beating Isaac Haxton in a heads-up battle. Shaun Deeb came on top of the field of 121 entries, which generated a prize pool of $11,676,500.
This win is also Deeb’s most significant live tournament score, beating his previous best of $1,402,683, which came after he won WSOP $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha – High Roller in 2018. This latest win also puts his all-time earnings over $16.5 million and catapults him into the top 100 in Hendon Mob’s all-time money list.
“Yeah, I mean, anyone could have won that tournament with the run of cards I had on all ends, you know. I ran so above CHIP EV in every all-in. I really just won, so … there wasn’t much skill. I played really well pre-flop , I got outplayed post flop I am sure, but that’s kind of I knew what was going to happen. I know how to reduce better players’ edge. Versus Ike, you know, I was ready to go wild pre-flop and that’s why I think he limp-called the kings because he just kind of knew that I’m willing to do that,” said Deeb to PokerNews after the win.
“It’s everything you hope for coming out here. God, this is the best one, I am probably going to play all summer to win. I appreciate all the staff here, I know everyone here there’s a lot of difficulty with so many players. So the World Series does a great job, as much shit as they get publicly. People got to realize just how hard it is to do what they do, and I appreciate all the staff,” Deeb also added.

The Final Table
When the final table was formed, Ben Lamb was sitting down as the short stack with just eight big blinds, Alex Foxen had the chip lead with 78 big blinds, and Shaun Deeb was behind him with 63 big blinds.
The first elimination in the final table came after Deeb opened, Ben Lamb 3-bet, and Deeb called. The flop was 7♦9♥4♦, Deep bet to but Lamb all-in, and Lamb called. Lamb had A♠Q♠9♦4♣ against Deeb’s J♥J♣8♠8♦, the turn came K♦, and the river was brick 2♦, and Lamb was eliminated in eighth place for $336,110 by Deeb’s flopped top set.

This elimination closed Day 2, and action was continued on Day 3 with seven players remaining in the race for a huge $2,957,229 first-place prize.
Sean Rafael opened from BTN, and Haxton called in BB. The flop came A♥2♠2♣, Haxton checked and called Rafael’s small bet. The turn came 7♥, and Haxton bet to put Rafael all-in, which Rafael called. Haxton revealed straight with Q♠10♦4♣3♦, which had Rafael in a tough spot with only four outs after he showed A♠K♣J♠10♣, the river didn’t help, and he was eliminated in seventh place for $419,563.
Alex Foxen opened from CO with A♦Q♦5♥2♥, and Haxton called in BTN holding A♥J♥J♣9♠. The flop came 3♦3♥2♣, Foxen c-bet, and Haxton called. The turn came A♠, Foxen bet against and Haxton called. The river was 9♣. Foxen checked, Haxton bet enough to put Foxen all-in, who then went into deep tank but eventually called. Foxen was eliminated in sixth place for $539,917 as Haxton rivered better two pairs.
Phil Ivey opened from HJ with K♥9♠7♣5♥, Haxton 3-bet from BTN with A♠A♦Q♥3♦, and Ivey called for all of his chips. The board ran A♣7♥10♦4♣9♥, and Ivey didn’t have much chance as Haxton flopped top set and turn marked the end for Ivey. Ivey finished in fifth place and won $715,614.

Lautaro Guerra shoved on 10♦K♥4♠ flop with dead money in the middle that was more than his remaining stack, and Haxton called. Guerra had A♠A♦6♣5♦ and was ahead of Haxton’s Q♠J♥J♣8♠. The turn came 6♦, additionally improving Guerra’s chances of survival, but A♣ on the river was a lucky card for Haxton, and Guerra was eliminated in fourth place for $976,082.
Arthur Morris was all-in from SB with A♠9♦2♠2♥, and Shaun Deeb called in BB with K♠10♣9♣5♦ covering Morris. The dealer rolled Q♠10♠7♥Q♦J♦ and Deeb managed to hit the pair of tens and dodge the flush draw to eliminate Morris in third place for $1,368,994.
The Heads-Up
Coming into the heads-up battle for the title, Haxton had the chip lead, but Deeb had enough chips to make it a fair battle. After around half an hour of the battle, Haxton limped from BTN, Deeb raised, and Haxton called. The flop came J♥4♠2♠, Deeb checked, Haxton bet, Deeb raised, putting Haxton into the tank.
Haxton then put all the remaining chips into the middle, and Deeb called. Cards were turned and Haxton had K♦K♠J♦7♦ against Deeb’s Q♥Q♠10♣6♠. The turn came 10♦, which didn’t change much, and Haxton was still ahead, but the J♠ on the river gave Deeb the flush, and Haxton was eliminated in second place for $1,972,860.
