Pineault Cracks Top 20, Mhatre Scores Final Table, Dang Finishes Runner-Up, Negreanu and Mueller Still in the Mix

Daniel Negreanu 2025 WSOP

As another week of the 2025 World Series of Poker kicks into gear, the Canadian crew is still firing on all cylinders. From deep runs in marquee events to high-stakes grinders still in the hunt, there’s no shortage of red-and-white sweat as Vegas starts to boil.

Pineault Bows Out in 18th of Millionaire Maker

After a marathon run through one of the biggest fields of the summer, Karl T Pineault’s charge in the Millionaire Maker came to an end in 18th place. Pineault banked $61,240 for the effort after outlasting over 10,000 players in Event #53: $1,500 Millionaire Maker.

It was a grind all the way through, but Pineault kept his composure deep into Day 4 before finally falling just after the final two tables. It’s a huge score, and more importantly, another Canadian name etched deep into one of the WSOP’s crown jewel events.

Mhatre Scores Final Table in $500 Freezeout

Abhishek Mhatre made the most of his chip lead heading into Day 2 of Event #61: $500 Freezeout NLH, running it all the way to the final table. Mhatre eventually fell in 7th place, good for $37,064 and a career highlight under the bright Horseshoe lights.

The low buy-in, turbo-style event drew a massive field and required some serious stamina and sharp decision-making under pressure. Mhatre delivered both, showing he can close strong when the field thins and the stakes rise.

Isabelle Dang Finishes Runner-Up in LIPS High Roller

Over in the $2,500 LIPS Women in Poker High Roller, Isabelle Dang came painfully close to a trophy, finishing in 2nd place for $43,251. It’s a statement result on one of the most prestigious women’s stages of the summer.

Dang battled through a sharp field of seasoned crushers and rising talent to reach heads-up play, ultimately falling just short of the win—but with a standout performance that puts her firmly on the radar for future deep runs.

Mackoff Carries the Flag in $5K 6-Max

In Event #62: $5,000 6-Handed NLH—a notoriously tough and technical tournament—Jonas Mackoff is the last Canadian standing heading into Day 3. He bagged 570,000 chips, good for 40th overall in a field stacked with elite talent.

With deep structures and sharp minds all around, Mackoff will have to stay sharp to navigate toward another potential final table. But if anyone’s got the experience and patience to grind it out, it’s the Vancouver veteran.

Negreanu and Mueller in Contention in PPC

Event #68: $50,000 Poker Players Championship is one of the most prestigious events in poker, and two Canadians are still in the mix after Day 1. Daniel Negreanu sits 11th overall, while Greg “FBT” Mueller holds 40th as the all-around test of poker resumes.

Greg Mueller

The PPC is a true endurance test—featuring a full rotation of mixed games, deep stacks, and high stakes—and both Negreanu and Mueller have been here before. With chips in play and experience to lean on, there’s plenty of room for movement heading into Day 2.
