Caleb Bruno Furth, Winner of Event #5: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha
Caleb Furth, more commonly known as Bruno, booked his second PLO bracelet in dramatic fashion, providing yet another example of the “chip and a chair” poker meme. Furth was down to barely a single big blind at one point on his way to the bracelet, but managed to respin it back up.
Furth had to battle through 757 entries for his $620k share of the prize pool of nearly $3.5 million. The Las Vegas native certainly seems to have a preference for the four-card game, with his Hendon Mob littered with Omaha results. There are a few two-card results sprinkled into his page, but most of them are combined with PLO in a half-and-half format.
This was his second bracelet, with his first coming last year in the $1,500 O8 event, but he also has NAPT and WPT titles with four cards. Furth prevailed over a final table that included Martin Kabrhel, who clashed with Furth more than once. Furth wrote Kabrehl’s antics off to strategy — “I think that he acts in a way to upset other people, hoping to get under their skin” — but also called the clock on him more than 20 times.
