It was a mixed bag for Canadian players on Sunday, June 8 at the 2025 World Series of Poker at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, with a trio of Canucks running deep in the wild Big O, a monster bag for Daniel Negreanu in one of his favorite formats, and a couple more heavy stacks in Badugi and $2.5k NLH. While no bracelets were captured by Canadian players on the day, plenty of red-and-white flags are popping up on the Day 2 leaderboards.
Faure Leads Trio of Canadian Big O Cashes
Three Canadians went deep in the five-card split-pot madness that is Big O, with Stephane Faure making the best run of the bunch. Faure took 34th place in Event #27: $1,500 Big O, banking $8,256 after bagging top Canadian stack going into Day 2.

Just behind him was Zachary Zaret, who was chasing a second bracelet after winning the PLO8 event earlier this week. Zaret settled for 70th place this time around, adding $4,517 to his summer haul. Ari Engel also found a cash in the format, taking 76th for $4,038.
Negreanu Among the Leaders in $10k 2-7 NL
It wouldn’t be a mixed-game event without Daniel Negreanu in the hunt. Kid Poker came out swinging in Event #30: $10,000 2-7 No-Limit Single Draw, finishing the day with 273,500 chips—good for 7th overall.
Negreanu has been chasing bracelet #7 for a few years now and has made no secret of his love for the 2-7 game. He’s in prime position heading into Day 2, with just 79 entries and registration only open for one more level. The money is looming as hopefuls will make the money later today.
It hasn’t been quite a summer for Dnegs this far as he fell one short of a bracelet early in the series.
Stacey and Lefebvre Bag Up Big
A couple more Canadians quietly built big stacks on Sunday as well. Patrick Stacey is looking sharp in Event #23: $1,500 Badugi, where he bagged 224,000 for 12th overall. Badugi is one of the more niche events on the schedule, but Stacey has put himself in a strong position heading into the final day.

Meanwhile, over in Event #29: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em, Daniel Lefebvre bagged one of the bigger stacks in the field with 420,000, putting him 28th overall going into Day 2. It’s a long road to the final table, but Lefebvre has chips, but in NLH, that’s all he needs to be dangerous.
