  • Allen Shen Wins Monster Stack for Almost $80k

Allen Shen had to come from behind against Mehmet Siginc, who was looking for his second ring this series. Siginc started heads up with a big lead, but a huge cooler flipped things around.

After a raise from Shen and a call from Siginc preflop, Siginc check-raised the ace-high, two-club flop. Shen called to the turn, which paired the ace and brought a third club to the board.

Siginc shoved, and Shen called him off pretty quickly. Siginc turned the nut club flush with king-eight, with Shen on trip aces with a four.

Shen needed an ace or a four or for the board to pair, and he got his wish when the river paired the five, giving Shen the full house and the win. He had a large rail of Ontario crushers railing him tonight, including past Main Event winner Nicholas Teeuwen, and streamer Patrick “Egption” Tardif, among many others.

  • Mehmet Siginc Out in 2nd Place for $52,010

    Level:36 (400000/800000/800000)

    Mehmet Siginic

Alen Shen raised to 2.2 million and Mehmet Siginc called. The flop came 105A, and Siginc check-raised from 1.4 million to 7 million. Shen called for the A on the turn.

Siginc shoved the big stack and Shen called fairly quickly. Siginc turned the nut club flush with king-eight, while Shen was on ace-four for trip aces. The river saved Shen as it paired 5, and Shen grabbed a huge lead.

Just a couple of hands later, Siginc shoved his short stack with pocket deuces, and Shen called with queen-four, and turned a four for the win.

  • Philip Dobrikin Out in 3rd Place for $35,285

    Level:35 (300000/600000/600000)
    Entries:2/1656
    Prizes:$536.036

    Philip Dobrikin

They are heads up now in the Monster Stack after Mehmet Siginc sent Philip Dobrikin to the rail in third place. I caught the action as Dobrikin was facing an all-in on the river from Siginc, who has the big stack.

Dobrikin eventually sighed, “I got to 3rd at least,” and slid in his stack for the call. He flopped an ace with ace-three, but Siginc was on two-pair with ten-seven, and took it down.

Siginc is how heads up against Alen Shen, and Siginc has the chip lead going for his second ring this series.

  • Jackson Oniske Out in 4th Place for $24,454

    Level:35 (300000/600000/600000)
    Entries:3/1656
    Prizes:$536,036
    Local Time:10:50 PM
    Jackson Oniske

The two short stacks have been trading chips without much progress for either. Jackson Oniske was down to just over 4 million, and he shoved under the gun. Philip Dobrikin, who was the second shortest, snap called from the big blind.

He was racing with nines against queen-ten, and while Oniske flopped a gutty and turned open-ended, the 48JK7 board left the nines in front, and sent Onikse out in 4th place.

  • Oniske Doubles

    Level:35 (300000/600000/600000)
    Entries:4/1656
    Prizes:$536,036
    Local Time:12:25 PM

Jackson Oniske just scored a double. Philip Dobrikin raised under the gun, then called when Oniske shoved the button. Oniske was best with ace-jack into ace-five, but Dobrikin flopped a straight draw. He bricked the turn & river on a board of 74610K to send the double to Oniske.

Dobrikin and Oniske traded the short stacks in the hand, with Oniske up to about 8.5 million versus 4 million for Dobrikin. Mehmet Siginc is the leader with about 30 million right now, while Alen Shen is playing about 24 million for second.

  • James Ward Out in 5th Place for $17,321

    Level:34 (250000/500000/500000)
    Entries:4/1656
    Prizes:$536,036
    Local Time:10:00 PM
    James Ward

James Ward was the short stack at the table even after his recent double, and he wasn’t able to spin it up. He just hit the rail for 5th place shortly after the recent hand against Philip Dobrikin.

  • Ward Grabs a Double

    Level:34 (250000/500000/500000)
    Entries:5/1,656
    Prizes:$536,036
    Local Time:9:50 PM

Philip Dobrikin raised to 2 million from the cutoff, and James Ward shoved his big blind for just 50k more. Dobrikin called with the best of it, ace-king of hearts over queen-ten of diamonds, but Ward found a ten on the flop of [invalid notations] and Dobrikin couldn’t the cards he needed.

Mehmet Siginc looks to be on his way to ring #2 in this series. He won the NLH/PLO mix on opening day, and he’s sitting with the big stack in the final five of the Monster now.

  • Jiajie Sheng Bags Huge for Biggest Monster Ever

    Date:Jan 15, Noon
    Blinds:45 Minutes (30 minutes until Level 25)
    Entries:84/1,656
Prizes:$536,036 ($404,294 to be awarded on Day 2)

It’s the biggest Monster Stack ever at WSOP-C Calgary, beating the previous best by more than 100 entries. Jan 2025 was the previous record holder for Monster fields, at 1,536, and this year’s edition came in 120 entries bigger.

That puts it as the fourth biggest field ever here at WSOP-C, behind the recent Mini Main record holder from this series, the Jan 2024 4-Flight, and the Oct 2025 Mini Main, and that bodes extremely well for this to be a record series as a whole. There are still the big events to come, of course, but through the $ak Turbo, including the Monster stack, the current record holder series, Jan 2024, had amassed just over $2.5 million in prizes — at the same point this year, this series is already at more than $3 million in total prizes.

The Monster was the game that really pumped the numbers into record territory. The rest of the series has had very solid turnouts as well, but the extra juice from a record Monster field has pushed the first half of the series into the record zone.

As 84 players return for Day 2 of the Monster stack, with $78k up top for the win, Jiajie Sheng is the player with the best shot of grabbing that big prize. He bagged a massive 3.21 million at the end of Day 1b, dwarfing the 1a leading sack of Josh Greville by almost 2 to 1. The rest of 1b couldn’t even keep up with Sheng, as James Ward’s second-place stack is just 1.73 million.

Ward was one of 11 players from 1b to bag more than a million, and they joined 7 millionaires from 1a for the Day 2 action.

The Day 2 action gets going at noon in the Chrome room, with Level 23 & 24 to be played at the 30-minute Day 1 blind levels, before it jumps to the Day 2 blinds of 45 minutes for Level 25.

The action will continue until someone has a ring on their finger, and with the returning field size, I’d expect to settle in for 12+ hours of poker before this is all decided. Alek Gillies will be on the floor for the early action, and I’ll be there to catch the final hands and the ring.

    Entries:52/1,023 (84/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:12:00 Midnight

Day 1b is now complete, with 52 players remaining. The remaining players are currently bagging their chips for Day 2. Stay tuned for the full payouts from Day 1b, as well as the 1b stacks coming shortly, with the full Day 2 stacks and seat assignments to follow after that.

  • Day 2 Bubble to Start Level 23

    Level:23 (20000/40000/40000)
    Entries:53/1,023 (85/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:11:50 PM

Level 23 has just started, and they are on the bubble to the end of the night. There are 53 players left, and 52 players should bag, so the night will be over after the next elimination.

  • 5 Off the Bags

    Level:22 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:57/1,023 (89/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:11:40 PM

Just 10 minutes remain in Level 22, with the field down to 57 players left. That leaves them 5 eliminations off the end of the night, so it seems likely that Level 23 will be the final level of Day 1b.

Stay tuned after the day ends for a full look at Day 1b cashouts, as well as the stacks moving forward into Day 2. At the moment, it looks like James Ward is leading the way with 1.7 million, while Andy Truong, who was at the $1k FT yesterday and won the High Roller ring here in October, is second with just over 1.535 million.

  • 15 Off the Bags

    Level:22 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:67/1,023 (99/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:11:20 PM

The 1b field is nearing the end of the day, with only 15 more eliminations to go before the bags come out for Day 2 players. There are almost three full levels remaining on the scheduled day with the start of Level 22, but it seems very unlikely that they’ll play that long. It looks more likely that they’ll bag up sometime in Level 23.

  • 29 Off the Bags on Final Break

    Level:21 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:81/1,023 (113/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:10:40 PM

The players are on their final break of Day 1b, with the field down to 81 players. That leaves them jst 29 off the bags, so it looks like 1b will end before they play 24 levels. That said, the action tends to slow a bit as the end of the night gets closer, with people tightening up to try and make it through to Day 2.

  • 119 Players Left

    Level:19 (10000/15000/15000)
    Entries:119/1,023 (151/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:9:40 PM

The numbers are dropping quickly now that players are in the money, and they are already down to 120 players left to start Level 19. There is still one more level to play after this one before the final break of Day 1b, and they are now 68 eliminations away from an early end to 1b.

  • Dropping Fast

    Level:18 (6000/12000/12000)
    Entries:137/1,023 (169/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:9:20 PM

The field is down to 137 remaining, with about 15 minutes to play in Level 18. The average stack is about 24 big blinds, so they are relatively short for this time of the night, and that may be driving the action.

I’ll update all the Day 1b payouts and the Day 2 stacks at the end of the night tonight, after they bag up.

  • In the Money

    Level:17 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:154/1,023 (186/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:9:05 PM

There was no bubble play in the Monster Stack 1b today, as a player was eliminated on the hand as they were waiting to pause for hand-for-hand play. Level 17 is nearly complete, and there are 7 levels of poker, at most, until the end of today’s flight.

  • Five Off the Money

    Level:17 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:159/1,023 (191/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:8:45 PM

They are down to 159 players with about 15 minutes to play in Level 17, just 5 off the money spots now. The clock will be paused for hand-for-hand play after 4 more eliminations.

  • 13 Off the Money at Break

    Level:17 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:167/1,023 (199/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:8:25 PM

The players are out for the break following Level 16, with about 5 minutes until they are back in action for Level 17. The field is down to 167 players now, 13 off the money spots, so the clock will likely be paused for bubble play shortly after Level 17 begins.

  • 50 Off the Money

    Level:15 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:204/1,023 (236/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:7:40 PM

The field is closing in on the money with just 50 eliminations to go until they start getting paid out as they leave. There are 204 players left in the game as Level 15 ticks down to a close, so it looks like they’ll hit the money bubble sometime after the break following Level 16.

  • Prizes are In; 154 Paid, At Least 52 Advance

    Level:15 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:220/1,023 (252/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:7:25 PM

The prizes are now in, and there are 154 paid spots for today’s flight. They’ll keep playing once they hit the money, stopping play for the day after 24 levels of poker, or when they hit 52 players, which is 5% of the starting field.

That means at least $250,010 from today’s $337,590 in prizes will push forward into the Day 2 pool, but it could be even more if they play 24 levels and bag up with more than 52 remaining. Level 15 now has about 15 minutes to play, and there are two more breaks scheduled for today, following Level 16 & Level 20.

The final field size for Day 1b was adjusted down by one since the last post I made, leaving the flight still well into 4 digits, but with the final tally down to 1,023, for a combined field of 1,656.

That should still mean 154 paid spots today, with at least 51 bags to end the night.

For the first time ever in Calgary, the Monster Stack has a four-digit field for one of its flights. Entries are now closed on the final flight to the Monster, and Day 1b got an astonishing 1,024 entries, for a combined field of 1,657.

That total puts this game as the fourth biggest field ever in Alberta, trailing this year’s massive Mini Main record-setter, as well as the Jan 2024 4-Flight (the previous record holder), and the Oct 2025 Mini Main.

With the current numbers, it looks like there will be 154 pay spots on Day 1b, with at least 51 players moving on to join the 32 qualifiers from 1a on Thursday’s Day 2. The action today continues until the end of Level 24, or until they get to 83 players, whichever comes first. Flight 1a ended with just over 25 minutes to play in Level 23, so 20k/40k/40k are the biggest blinds they’ll start at on Day 2, but the level may roll back further if today’s flight plays down more quickly.

  • The Monster is Huge — 1b of the Monster Stack runs Wednesday

    Date:Jan 14, 11 AM
    Blinds:30 Minutes
    Starting Stack:40k
    Late Entry:12 Levels (~6:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:24 Levels or 5% of the Field
    Entries:32/633
    Prizes:$208,375

The trend so far in this series has been big fields that beat both series from 2025. Jan 2025 was the second biggest series ever for WSOP-C Calgary, with $5,740,395 in total prizes. That was less than $100k under the Jan 2024 record of $5,808,951.

After the Mini Main Event set a new regional record, crushing the record Jan 2024 4-Flight numbers, it started to look like this series was going to be the biggest ever, and the interest in the Monster Stack so far continues to bear that delicious fruit. Day 1a of this Monster game is the biggest Monster 1a so far here in Calgary, surpassing both the Jan 2024 & Jan 2025 1a numbers (Jan 2025 was the biggest Monster Stack ever in Calgary).

The final flight to the Monster runs on Wednesday at 11 am, and players can buy in for 12 levels. The desk should close for this one around 6:15 PM. Players start with 40k, and play 30-minute levels on Day 1, with the hard stop after 24 levels, or at 5% of the field, whichever comes first.

It remains to be seen what the turnout for 1b will be. 1b of the record 2025 game saw 947 entries, but with 1a significantly ahead of last year, and with the huge turnouts across the rest of the events, the final Monster flight could easily hit four digits, and will likely compete for the second-biggest field ever here at WSOP-C Calgary.

The Monster Stack Day 1a is now 13 off the end of the night, with 25 minutes to play in Level 22. It still looks like a decent bet for this one to finish before the end of Level 24, but the action has stalled recently, so it’s a bit up in the air.

I’m pretty busy in the Chrome room with two other tournaments in the money, so I haven’t been able to keep up with the bustouts in this one. I’ll update all the Day 1a cashes and the chip counts for surviving players after this game bags up for the night.

Bubble play was short in Day 1a of the Monster Stack tonight, and the remaining 95 players are now in the money. Day 1 pay events don’t have a prize pool under the payouts tab until Day 2 action, so I’ll post bustouts in the posts as they go. Once the event is complete, a full list of cashers will be posted, including Day 1 pay.

Note that I only have access to the public app for Day 1 cashes, and that doesn’t always show real names, so some of the reported cashes tonight will be aliases instead of full names. The full names of cashers will be reported after the event with a combined list of all Day 1 payouts, as well as the Day 2 money.

They are down to 169 players left in 1a of the Monster Stack, with about 15 minutes to play in Level 14. 95 players will get paid from today’s action, but at least 32 of those will bag up to get their payout on Thursday’s Day 2. The action ong Day 1 continues until the end of Level 24, or they hit 5% of the field, whichever comes first.

Entries are now closed for the opening flight of the Monster Stack, and the field is significantly ahead of October’s numbers. This game saw more than 150 extra entries over the same flight in October, and with Day 1b expected to be bigger, it bodes well for a field of 1,500+ by the time entries close on 1b Wednesday.

There is about an hour left to enter the opening flight of the Monster stack, and the opening-day numbers are very encouraging. The field is already over 600 entries, significantly ahead of the 487 total entries seen in this flight in October 2025.

The final tally for October’s Monster Stack was 1,203, and with the current pace, and a bigger 1b expected tomorrow, it looks like this game could crack 1,500 entries.

  • Monster Stack Surpasses Expectations

With just over an hour and a half remaining for entry, Day 1a of the $400 Monster Stack has already seen a surge of entries. Only 266 of the 582 total entries remain. This has combined for just over a $200,000 prize pool with the final flight still to come tomorrow. Be sure to jump into the action as this is one you won’t want to miss.

    Blinds:30 Minutes
    Starting Stack:40k
    Late Entry:12 Levels (~6:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:24 Levels or 5% of the field

It’s time for the Monster Stack. Traditionally, this tends to be one of the biggest fields of the series, and given the numbers so far, it seems like this series will be no different. The Day 1a action kicks off at 11 AM in the Sundance room.

All players start with 40k in chips, and blinds are 30 minutes long for Day 1 play. Entries are open for 12 levels, with the final shot at entry at about 6:15 PM. After that, they play down to 5% of the field or the end of Level 24, whichever comes first.

Corey Arsenault, winner of the Monster Stack

In October, Corey Arsenault picked up his first of two rings in the Monster Stack. He made it through a field of 1,203 to get heads-up against Anthony Casten. Arsenault was down to less than a big blind at one point in the endgame before mounting a huge comeback for the win. Casten was in the game with a max-late reg for 10 bigs, and spun that up to heads up.

Day 1a of the Monster is down to 50 left on the final break of the day. They’ll be back at the felt in about 10 minutes for the final four levels of the scheduled night, but they might end earlier if they hit 32 players before the end of Level 24.

  • The Monster Approaches

    Date:Day 1a: Jun 13, 11 AM

    Entries:53/1,023 (85/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:11:50 PM

Level 23 has just started, and they are on the bubble to the end of the night. There are 53 players left, and 52 players should bag, so the night will be over after the next elimination.

  • 5 Off the Bags

    Level:22 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:57/1,023 (89/1,656)

    Local Time:11:40 PM

Just 10 minutes remain in Level 22, with the field down to 57 players left. That leaves them 5 eliminations off the end of the night, so it seems likely that Level 23 will be the final level of Day 1b.

Stay tuned after the day ends for a full look at Day 1b cashouts, as well as the stacks moving forward into Day 2. At the moment, it looks like James Ward is leading the way with 1.7 million, while Andy Truong, who was at the $1k FT yesterday and won the High Roller ring here in October, is second with just over 1.535 million.

    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:11:20 PM

The 1b field is nearing the end of the day, with only 15 more eliminations to go before the bags come out for Day 2 players. There are almost three full levels remaining on the scheduled day with the start of Level 22, but it seems very unlikely that they’ll play that long. It looks more likely that they’ll bag up sometime in Level 23.

  • 29 Off the Bags on Final Break

    Level:21 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:81/1,023 (113/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:10:40 PM

The players are on their final break of Day 1b, with the field down to 81 players. That leaves them jst 29 off the bags, so it looks like 1b will end before they play 24 levels. That said, the action tends to slow a bit as the end of the night gets closer, with people tightening up to try and make it through to Day 2.

  • 119 Players Left

    Level:19 (10000/15000/15000)
    Entries:119/1,023 (151/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:9:40 PM

The numbers are dropping quickly now that players are in the money, and they are already down to 120 players left to start Level 19. There is still one more level to play after this one before the final break of Day 1b, and they are now 68 eliminations away from an early end to 1b.

  • Dropping Fast

    Level:18 (6000/12000/12000)
    Entries:137/1,023 (169/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:9:20 PM

The field is down to 137 remaining, with about 15 minutes to play in Level 18. The average stack is about 24 big blinds, so they are relatively short for this time of the night, and that may be driving the action.

I’ll update all the Day 1b payouts and the Day 2 stacks at the end of the night tonight, after they bag up.

  • In the Money

    Level:17 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:154/1,023 (186/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:9:05 PM

There was no bubble play in the Monster Stack 1b today, as a player was eliminated on the hand as they were waiting to pause for hand-for-hand play. Level 17 is nearly complete, and there are 7 levels of poker, at most, until the end of today’s flight.

  • Five Off the Money

    Level:17 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:159/1,023 (191/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:8:45 PM

They are down to 159 players with about 15 minutes to play in Level 17, just 5 off the money spots now. The clock will be paused for hand-for-hand play after 4 more eliminations.

  • 13 Off the Money at Break

    Level:17 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:167/1,023 (199/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:8:25 PM

The players are out for the break following Level 16, with about 5 minutes until they are back in action for Level 17. The field is down to 167 players now, 13 off the money spots, so the clock will likely be paused for bubble play shortly after Level 17 begins.

  • 50 Off the Money

    Level:15 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:204/1,023 (236/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:7:40 PM

The field is closing in on the money with just 50 eliminations to go until they start getting paid out as they leave. There are 204 players left in the game as Level 15 ticks down to a close, so it looks like they’ll hit the money bubble sometime after the break following Level 16.

  • Prizes are In; 154 Paid, At Least 52 Advance

    Level:15 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:220/1,023 (252/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:7:25 PM

The prizes are now in, and there are 154 paid spots for today’s flight. They’ll keep playing once they hit the money, stopping play for the day after 24 levels of poker, or when they hit 52 players, which is 5% of the starting field.

That means at least $250,010 from today’s $337,590 in prizes will push forward into the Day 2 pool, but it could be even more if they play 24 levels and bag up with more than 52 remaining. Level 15 now has about 15 minutes to play, and there are two more breaks scheduled for today, following Level 16 & Level 20.

  • Down to 281 Remaining

    Level:14 (3000/5000/5000)
    Entries:281/1,023 (313/1,656)
    Prizes:$337,590 ($536,036 total)
    Local Time:6:55 PM

The final field size for Day 1b was adjusted down by one since the last post I made, leaving the flight still well into 4 digits, but with the final tally down to 1,023, for a combined field of 1,656.

That should still mean 154 paid spots today, with at least 51 bags to end the night.

  • Four Digit Field for Final Monster Flight

    Level:13 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:377/1,024 (409/1,657)
    Prizes:$337,920 ($536,366 total)
    Local Time:6:15 PM

    Local Time:11:00 PM

    Prizes:$536,036
    Local Time:10:50 PM
    Jackson Oniske

The two short stacks have been trading chips without much progress for either. Jackson Oniske was down to just over 4 million, and he shoved under the gun. Philip Dobrikin, who was the second shortest, snap called from the big blind.

He was racing with nines against queen-ten, and while Oniske flopped a gutty and turned open-ended, the 48JK7 board left the nines in front, and sent Onikse out in 4th place.

James Ward was the short stack at the table even after his recent double, and he wasn’t able to spin it up. He just hit the rail for 5th place shortly after the recent hand against Philip Dobrikin.

  • Ward Grabs a Double
