It took three days of intense poker at Horseshoe & Paris, Las Vegas to decide the bracelet, with the final day of play going well past midnight. In addition to the 17-time bracelet winner, Kevin Choi, Tobias Hausen, and Jon Kyte were among the other players Daly had to face down at the final table.
Hellmuth Looking to Extend Record
The unquestioned bracelet king at the World Series of Poker is Phil Hellmuth. He was looking for his record-breaking 18th bracelet in this one, but the truth is, it was his own record he was trying to beat. The next best total belongs to the “other Phil”, Phil Ivey, but the “quiet Phil” is still 6 bracelets back of Hellmuth with 11.
In addition to winning bracelets, Hellmuth is also known for his sometimes volatile behaviour at the tables. While he was on good behaviour in this one for the most part, it wouldn’t be a Hellmuth game without the odd outburst. With play 5 ways, the pot boiled over when his kings were cracked by Daly, with Hellmuth leaving the table for a short, uncharacteristically quiet, rant.
“They f***ing play so bad,” Hellmuth said quietly to himself. “You check back the flop … Ah, you can’t help yourself … alright, if you want to give me the chips, I accept, Jason. Give me the f***ing chips. If you want to do weird f***ing sh**, good luck. If you guys want to overbet, and overbet and overbet, go ahead.”
In the end, Hellmuth had to accept 3rd place from this one and look for his next bracelet another day. He left the game in typical Hellmuth style. “What the f*** just happened?” he muttered as he collected his things after Daly flopped ducks, then ran out to a straight against his ace-king-jack-four, three club hand.
Will @phil_hellmuth extend his bracelet record tonight in Event #47: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better?

He’s still well behind his tablemate, but Jason Daly grabbed his second bracelet from this one. He won his first in 2023 in the $3k 6-Handed Hold’em event. At the time, that was his second-biggest win after a big win at The Lodge Championship Series for $290k, but this new bracelet will slot in between them as his second-best score, pushing his lifetime total to almost $1.65 million.
“The first one is great, but the second one brings a little more validation,” Daly stated, carrying his newly acquired WSOP bracelet with him. “Especially as the final 27 of this field were sick.” Among that “sick” final 27 were mixed-game wizards like Jon Turner, Brian Rast, and Benny Glaser, along with OG great Gus Hanson.

2025 WSOP Event #47: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Final Table Recap
It was mostly the Jason Daly show as they got down to the endgame in this one. While he and Hellmuth came to the final table about even at the top of the counts, Daly quickly found the lead and never really looked back.
“When I get to these final tables, I’m boom or bust. I go for it. So when you get the momentum, you don’t let off the gas. If they get back to even, then you worry about a strategy,” he told PokerNews after the victory.
Daly collected all the chips from the final five players, dispatching Hellmuth and Choi in 3rd and 2nd, respectively, within minutes of each other to end the night. After the game, Daly said that adjusting to the various personalities was a big part of his game plan. “I feel like I have a good sense for where I’m at versus other people. I think that’s a big thing in this mix. Playing Hellmuth or Choi, the ranges are going to be vastly different.”
While he was up against some tough competition, Daly’s run to bracelet #2 was a pretty smooth affair. He was never really in danger, and the final run of 4 eliminations straight to end the game was indicative of his dominant run throughout.
When asked what it was like to battle the WSOP bracelet leader and deal with his outbursts (which, admittedly, were at a minimum in this one), he said the “Poker Brat” was fine to play against. “It’s to be expected. He’s nice about it. If he crosses the line, he’ll apologize. It’s good for the game.”
Daly had planned to head home from Vegas after this event, so it’s unclear if he’ll be looking to add #3 later in the series or not. If this is his final event of the 2025 Series, at least he knows he went out on a high note this year.
