2025 WSOP: Tyler Patterson Dominates Final Table to Win Second Bracelet in $3K 6-Max

Tyler Patterson 2025 WSOP Event #49: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Bracelet Winner

The 2025 World Series of Poker rolled on at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas with one of the most action-packed formats on the schedule: Event #49: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em. The shorter table setup always delivers intensity, and with 1,421 entries piling into the field, this edition was no exception. A prize pool of $3,497,247 was built, with $574,223 set aside for the eventual winner.

When the dust settled after only two days of play, it was Tyler Patterson who stood tall, capturing his second career WSOP bracelet. With all previous bracelet winners falling before the final table, Patterson, a seasoned pro since 2007, relied on experience to navigate his way through a tough final six. He eliminated every single one of his opponents, including Matthew Wantman heads-up, to deny each of them their maiden bracelet.

In the heads-up, Patterson faced off against Wantman, another accomplished player still chasing that elusive first piece of WSOP jewelry. Wantman, a WPT champion with multiple PokerGO Tour titles to his name, was once again agonizingly close, as this marks his fifth runner-up finish in either WSOP or Circuit events. He earned $382,774 for second place, pushing his career live earnings just shy of $9 million.

As for Patterson, the win adds another prestigious line to an already impressive tournament record. A WSOP Circuit Ring holder, WPT champion, and a RUNGOOD Poker Series title winner, he first tasted WSOP victory in 2014 in a PLO8 event. Eleven years later, he’s back in the winner’s circle, now crossing the $4 million milestone in live tournament earnings.

2025 WSOP Event #49: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Final Table Recap

With 69 players returning for Day 2, the plan was to crown a winner by the end of the night. With the size of the field left, this author didn’t believe that would be possible, but the players proved me wrong. In fact, they got it done with time to spare. It took just eight hours to reach the official six-handed final table, when Fabian Niederreiter was knocked out in seventh, and from that point on, things moved even faster, courtesy of Tyler Patterson.

Patterson entered the final table as the overwhelming chip leader with 71 big blinds. Behind him was Britain’s Andy Wilson, who had just picked up a big pot by eliminating the German in seventh and climbed to 53 big blinds.

Poland’s Jakub Michalak started in the middle of a pack but was the first to go on the final table in a set-up against the chip leader. He three-bet all-in over Patterson’s open, only to get snap-called by the chip leader’s pocket kings. Michalak showed pocket queens, but the board ran out 49J7J, offering no help. He departed in sixth place for $99,913.

Yohwan Lim was next. Sitting on a similar stack to Michalak, Lim completed in the small blind and Patterson shoved from the big. Lim called with ace-ten suited and saw Patterson turn over the inferior ace-eight. That was, until the flop delivered an eight to flip the script. Lim exited in fifth for $136,701.

Moments later, it was Andy Wilson’s turn. He opened with pocket sevens and quickly found himself all-in against Patterson’s pocket jacks. The board 439A4 brought no miracle, and the Brit made his exit in fourth, earning $189,863 for his run.

Michael Walsh had entered the final table as the short stack with just 10 big blinds, but watched three players fall before him to ladder up significantly. His run came to an end when he committed with king-jack suited facing pressure from Patterson preflop. Patterson held queen-seven and spiked a queen on the 108Q flop. Walsh still had plenty of outs, but the turn and river bricked out, sending him home in third for $267,626.

Patterson began heads-up play with a commanding 11:1 chip lead over Matthew Wantman, and truthfully, there was no doubt on the winner. Wantman got his chips in with jack-seven against Patterson’s ace-nine, and the flop delivered an ace right away. A nine on the turn sealed the deal.

Patterson celebrated with his rail as he locked up his second WSOP bracelet and the $574,223 top prize, while Wantman was left to settle for another WSOP runner-up finish and $382,774.
