Song Eyes Monster Stack Final Table and Negreanu Banks Big

The Canadian contingent continues to show up in force at the 2025 World Series of Poker, and Friday was no exception. Linyang Song is carrying the flag deep in the Monster Stack, Patrick Stacey is clinging to a chair in a tough mixed-game final three tables, and Alemu Makonen and Jacob Parent both booked solid cashes in huge-field events. Oh, and Daniel Negreanu just quietly banked over half a million in the biggest buy-in event of the series.

Song Solo in Monster Stack

After a wave of eliminations thinned the field, Linyang Song is now the last Canadian standing in Event #37: $1,500 Monster Stack. And he’s not just hanging on—he’s in the thick of it.

Song bagged a towering 12,200,000 chips heading into Day 4, good for 13th overall as the field narrows toward the final table. With just shy of 10,000 entries to outlast and a massive payout up top, Song is well-positioned to make a serious run at one of the most coveted low-buy-in bracelets of the summer.

Stacey Still Alive in Mixed Game Grinder

Over in Event #47: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo, Patrick Stacey is still breathing with 27 players left. He’ll come back with just 185,000 chips—the shortest stack in the field—but in a split-pot tournament, a couple scoops can change everything.

Stacey’s got work to do, but he’s one double-up away from being right back in the mix.

Makonen and Parent Highlight Big-Field Cashes

The Canadian flags were out in full force during Day 3 of the Monster Stack, and Alemu “Jerome” Makonen led the way with a deep run to 66th place, good for $19,325. It’s a strong showing in a field with nearly 10,000 entries and another solid bullet point for Makonen’s Vegas summer.

In Event #45: $500 Salute to Warriors, Jacob Parent represented well by finishing 36th for $4,850. The low buy-in, charity-themed tournament saw over 4,500 entries, and Parent’s deep run helped cap off another wave of cashes for Team Canada.

Negreanu Banks $531K in $250K High Roller

Daniel Negreanu might not have made the final table in the biggest buy-in event of the series, but he still walked away with a monster payday. Kid Poker finished 9th in Event #46: $250,000 Super High Roller, good for $531,284.

It’s Negreanu’s second six-figure score of the summer and proof he can still hang with the best in the world when the stakes are sky-high.
