Deerfoot Inn & Casino is bringing back its signature Fall Super Stack series, kicking off on Nov 7. • Day 1a is Complete

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:10/89
    Prizes:$25,365
Michael Malm, pictured at FT of 4-Flight from the Aug WSOP-C here at Deerfoot, bagged the big 1a stack

The first flight for the Deepstack game is in the books now with 10 players qualifying for Day 2 on Sunday. The day ended with 6:34 on the clock in Level 14, so that looks like the start time for Sunday, unless 1b or 1c ended earlier.

Michael Malm is the chip leader from Day 1a with 261,500. Ring winner Scott Calvank is second with 243k and Peter Noble, Andy Truong, and WPT Global streamer Jordan Banfield round out the top five.

  • On the Bubble

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:11/89
    Prizes:$25,365

The clock is now paused with 20:34 to play in Level 14 and 11 players left in action. They are now hand-for-hand until the next player is eliminated.

  • 15 Players Left in 1a

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:15/89
    Prizes:$25,365

They are down to 15 players left in Day 1a of the Deepstack with the bags coming out with 10 players left. There are a bit more than 10 minutes remaining in Level 13, so it’s an open question whether they’ll make it to the break following Level 14. While the schedule goes until the end of Level 16, it seems very unlikely they’ll make it that far.

  • Truong Leads Final Two Tables

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:18/89
    Prizes:$25,365

They are down to 18 players left now in Day 1a with just under 20 minutes to play in Level 12. After a quick look at the stacks, it looks like Andy Truong is leading right now with about 200k in front of him. Michael Malm isn’t far behind with about 180k while Kory Stephenson has about 170k and Scott Calvank is playing 140k.

  • 89 Entries Confirmed

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:20/89
    Prizes:$25,365

The numbers are now confirmed with 89 entries for Day 1a. That means $25,365 will be moving forward to day to prizes and 10 players will bag up chips at the end of the night. The action will go hand-for-hand with 11 players left, so it’s possible that there will be fewer than 10 bags of more than one player busts during hand-for-hand.

In theory, they could play until the end of Level 16, but with the field just 10 off the bags, it seems very unlikely Day 1a will go that late.

  • 1a Entries are Closed

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:27/89
    Prizes:$25,365

Entries are now closed for Day 1a of the Deepstack game with 89 entries as the final number on the board. I’m waiting for confirmation on that but if it holds it will mean at least 10 bags at the end of the night. Action will now proceed until the end of Level 16, or until they are down to 10 players left, whichever comes first.

  • Dinner Time

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:27/88
    Prizes:$25,080

The 1a players are on dinner now with about 40 minutes until they are back in action and entries are closed. There are 88 entries on the board right now, which would mean at least 9 players bagging chips later but that may change if more entries come in over dinner. With 88 entries the 1a prizes are now over $25k.

  • One Hour to Enter 1a

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:27/87
    Prizes:$24,795

There are less than 15 minutes left in Level 10 with the dinner break following this level and the end of entries following dinner. That means there is just under an hour left to get into this opening flight.

Edmonton business man DJ Sharma has arrived in town for the game and has just bought in and Seamus McGearty is among the other new names I noticed on my last trip around the room.

  • About 90 Minutes to Enter 1a

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:36/84
    Prizes:$23,940

The prizes are now just shy of $24k with 84 entries on the board. There are about 10 minutes to play in Level 9 which means the end of entries is approaching in less than 90 minutes. They’ll play one more level of poker before the Dinner break following Level 10 and entries will close when they sit down for Level 11 at about 8:15 PM.

  • Gilmurray Leads 82 Entries on Second Break

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:37/82
    Prizes:$23,370

The players are on their second break of the day with Level 9 set to begin in about 5 minutes. I had a look around during the break and it looks like Garrett Gilmurray is the leader right now with about 120k in front of him. Kory Stephenson has about 110k while Michael Malm is playing about 100k. Jeff Charlebois and Scott Calvank are playing just shy of 100k and those look to be the five biggest stacks right now, though I may have missed one.

  • 80 Entries on the Board

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:45/80
    Prizes:$22,800

The field is up to 80 entries now for more than $22.5k in prizes. There are just over 20 minutes to play in Level 8 with another 15-minute break scheduled for the conclusion of this level.

  • Five Tables Remain

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:45/75
    Prizes:$21,375

The total field is at 75 entries now with just under 3 hours left to enter. That puts the 1a prizes over $21k with more entries likely to come before they shut the desk down.

There are 45 players left in the action now on five tables, but they’ll open new tables if necessary for new entries. There is another break following Level 8 with Dinner scheduled after Level 10 and the end of entries when they sit down for Level 11 about 8:15 PM.

  • More than 70 Entries

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:57/72
    Prizes:$20,520

The prizes for 1a are now over $20k with 72 entries on the board and less than five minutes to play in Level 5. Entries are still open for about 3.5 hours, so there is still plenty of time for the numbers to grow.

  • A Look at the Day 1a Field

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:55/66
    Prizes:$18,810

The players are back in their seats for Level 5 action with 66 entries on the board now for prizes of almost $19k. I had a wander around with my video cam running, so see below for a look at the Day 1a field to start the series.

  • More than 60 Entries

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:54/62
    Prizes:$17,670

There are more than 60 entries on the board now for Day 1a prizes in excess of $17.5k. There are a few minutes to play in Level 4 with the first break of Day 1a scheduled following this level. Juss Viet, Toms Varghese, and Willie Hernandez are among the players I’ve spotted recently in the field.

  • More than $15k in Prizes

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:48/55
    Prizes:$15,675
Michael Malm, pictured at the final table of the August edition of the WSOP-C 4-Flight game.

The field is up to 55 entries now with 48 players still at the felt. Michael Malm and David Thompson are among the recent entries I’ve seen in the game with Malm back in Alberta after a recent win at WPT Playground, Kahnawake to try and add to his lead in the API standings.

  • Corrected Prizes

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:44/44
    Prizes:$12,540

The field is up to 44 entries now for prizes of $12,540. In previous posts, I was working out the prizes incorrectly, but I’ve now corrected my formula to give accurate prizes. Level 2 has about 15 minutes left to play.

  • Up to 40 Entries

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:40/40
    Prizes:$12,000

There are about 5 minutes to play in Level 1 with the field up to 40 entries now for $12k in prizes so far. I’ve just had a wander around the room to check out some faces, and among the players in action are Andy Truong, Trevor Simpson, Debi Loomer, Jordan Banfield, Lee Clark, and Jeff Charlebois.

  • $7,500 in Prizes to Start

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:25/25
    Prizes:$7,500

The action is underway in the opening event of the Fall Super Stack at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. Level 1 is just underway, with 25 players in their seats for prizes so far of $7,500.

Among the players I’ve posted early are Rob Bridger, Tyler Thomas, Scott Calvank, and Peter Darlington.

  • Deepstack Kicks Off Fall Super Stack

    Event:#1: $340 Deepstack ($300 + $40)
    Dates:Day 1a: Nov 7, 2 PM
    Day 1b: Nov 8. 2 PM
    Day 1c, Nov 9, 2 PM
    Day 2: Nov 10, Noon
    Blinds:30/40 Min
    Start Stack:20k
    Late Entry:10 Levels (~8:15 pm)
Day 1 Ends:16 Levels ~11:30 pm (or 10%+1 of Starting Field)

The 2024 Fall Super Stack is nearly upon us with full series action kicking off on Nov 7 at 2 pm with Day 1a of the $340 Deepstack. There are three starting days in total for this one, with the remaining players from all three Day 1 fields combining for Day 2 and the money on Nov 10 at noon.

Players sit down with 20k in chips to start their day, and entries will be accepted for the first 10 levels of play. With 30-minute blinds on Day 1 (Day 2 moves to 40 minutes), that should put the final chance to enter or rebuy at about 8:15 PM on Day 1.

They’ll play a maximum of 16 levels on Day 1 with the bags coming out after Level 16 or when the field hits 10%+1, whichever comes first. If they play until the end of 16, the bags will be out around 11:30 PM.

This game will be my main focus throughout the opening weekend of the series. I’ll keep an eye on the side events and move to them at the end of the days for this event, but most of my attention will be focused here at the start of the series.

  • Dale Posein Leads 1b Counts

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:13/120 (23/209)
    Prizes:$34,200 ($59,565)

Day 1b is over with 17 minutes left in Level 15. 13 players got chips into a bag and the biggest bag belongs to Dale Posein from Okotoks. He bagged 445k for the overall lead, capping Mike Malm’s 1a leading stack. Patricia Kananda is second with 282.5k. Todd Oakley, Kim Pham, and Jo Teliani round out the top five counts.

  • Bubble Time

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:14/120 (24/209)
    Prizes:$34,200 ($59,565)

Level 5 is just beginning with the action on the bubble. They played one hand on the bubble before the break, and will return hand-for-hand for Level 15. The next elimination will bring out the bags.

  • Two Tables Remain

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:18/120 (28/209)
    Prizes:$34,200 ($59,565)

They are just 5 players away from the end of 1b now with the remaining field down to 18. There are about 20 minutes to play in Level 14 with a break scheduled following this level.

When they return from the break, there are still two levels on the schedule, but it seems pretty unlikely they’ll last that long. Most likely, the bags will come out shortly after the break, early in Level 15.

  • 9 Off the End of the Day

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:22/120 (32/209)
    Prizes:$34,200 ($59,565)

They are down to 22 players left now in Day 1b with about 5 minutes to play in Level 13. That puts them 9 players away from the bags coming out with 13 left.

  • Some Regs Still in Action

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:29/120 (39/209)
    Prizes:$34,200 ($59,565)

With 29 players still in the mix, there are quite a few familiar faces out there including Mike Lonigro, Todd Oakley (who won the PLO last night), Preston Stevenson, Bash Ramahi, Lap Duong, Jo Teliani, Tyler Hurman, Peter Amic, and Nick Peterson.

  • 29 Players Remain

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:29/120 (39/209)
    Prizes:$34,200 ($59,565)

They are down to 29 left at the beginning of Level 12 now. That puts them 16 away from the bags coming out with the average stack right now at a bit more than 30 big blinds.

  • 120 Entries for 1b

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:35/120 (45/209)
    Prizes:$34,200 ($59,565)

The 1b players are now back from dinner and entries are closed with 120 in the mix for the second flight. That puts the total field so far at 209 entries for combined prizes just shy of $60k. With 120 entries, that will mean that 13 players will advance from today’s flight, at least. Play could go as late as the end of Level 16, but with just four tables left in action, it seems likely they’ll make it to 13 before the scheduled end of the night.

  • Nearing Dinner Time

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:45/114 (55/203)
    Prizes:$32,490 ($57,855)

The dinner break is approaching for 1b so entries will be closing in a bit less than an hour. There are 114 entries for 1b right now but that may still change a bit.

That puts almost $32.5k into the 1b prizes for a combined total of $57,855. With 114 entries that will mean at least 12 players bag at the end of the night.

  • Combined Prizes Nearing $60k

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:54/113 (64/202)
    Prizes:$32,205 ($57,570)

The combined field is now over 200 entries with 202 in total now on the board. Today’s flight is now at 113 entries for 1b prizes of a bit more than $32k and $57.5k in total so far.

There are just over 10 minutes to play in Level 9 and Level 10 will be the final level of poker during which entries remain open. The entries will stay open through the dinner break that follows Level 10, with the desk shutting down when they sit down for Level 11 at about 8:15 pm.

  • 2nd Break

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:64/109 (74/198)
    Prizes:$31,065 ($56,430)

The combined field is now 2 entries shy of 200 total and the combined prizes are now over $55k. The 1b field is pushing towards 110 entries with just under 2 hours left to enter.

Players are still on their second break of the day and will be back at the felt for Level 9 in about 10 minutes. After that there are two more levels of poker plus the dinner break before entries shut down for today’s flight at about 8:15 pm.

  • More than 100 Entries for 1b

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:63/102 (73/191)
    Prizes:$29,070 ($54,435)

The 1b prizes are nearly $30k now with 102 entries on the board so far today. That puts the combined field just 9 short of 200 and combined prizes at nearly $55k. There are now just under 2.5 hours left to enter today’s game.

  • Nearing 100 Entries for 1b

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:73/97 (83/186)
    Prizes:$27,645 ($53,010)

The 1b field is now closing in on 100 entries with Level 7 just underway. The 97 entries in the pool already have 1b prizes of more than $27.5k with more than $53k in total prizes now. Among the recent entries I spotted were Jolnar and Nohad Teliani, Zishan Kassam, Peter Amic, Essam Saadeddine, and Lap Duong.

  • 1b Beats 1a in Level 6

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:73/93 (83/182)
    Prizes:$26,505 ($51,870)

With about 20 minutes to play in Level 6 the field is now up to 93 for 1b and 182 in total across both days. There are still a bit more than 3 hours left to enter today’s flight and another full flight tomorrow before the final field is set, so with the combined prizes already over $50k, $100k+ is definitely within sight by the end of tomorrow’s entries.

  • Nearing 1a Totals

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:66/86 (76/175)
    Prizes:$24,510 ($49,875)

The combined prizes are now just one entry shy of $50k with 86 entries in the mix for 1b so far. There are just over 10 minutes to play in Level 5 with the total field now at 175 entries and a bit more than 3.5 hours to get into today’s flight.

  • Nearing $50k in Total Prizes

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:64/81 (74/170)
    Prizes:$23,085 ($48,450)

They are just shy of $50k in total prizes now as Level 4 ticks down to the end and the first break is looming. There are 81 entries for 1b putting the combined total at 170. That also means today’s field is just 9 entries shy of the 1a final total before the first break, which bodes well for today’s final numbers.

  • Just 21 Away from 1a Numbers

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:63/68 (73/157)
    Prizes:$19,380 ($44,745)

There are still more than 10 minutes to play in Level 3 but the 1b field is already almost at 70 entries. They are now just 21 entries away from the 89 total fro 1a with just under 5 hours left to enter this game.

Among the players in the 1b field today are Skyler York, Haven Taylor, Bogdan Szafanowicz, Preston Stevenson, Corey Stark, Mike Lonigro, Sean Pevlin, Todd Oakley, Peggy Sue Malinowski, Don Fujita, Reg Hampton, Jon Jacquard, and Terry Langdon. That’s far from a complete list, but hits some of the more familiar faces in the crowd today. Worth adding that Oakley is here after bagging the PLO title around 4am this morning.

  • Nearing $45k in Total Prizes

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:64/64 (74/153)
    Prizes:$18,240 ($43,605)

The field is up to 64 entries as Level 3 begins for 1b prizes of just over $18k. That puts the two-day totals at 153 entries for prizes of $43,605. There are still more than 5 hours left to get into 1b, and a full 1c to play tomorrow.

  • More than 50 Entries for Level 2

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:51/51 (61/140)
    Prizes:$14,535 ($39,900)

Level 2 has just begun with 51 entries on the board. That puts the 1b prizes over $15k already and puts the two-day total at almost $40k with 140 entries in total so far. At this point, 100+ entries for today looks like a lock, but the final 1b numbers are still almost 6 hours away.

  • 1b Action is Underway with 27 Players

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:27/27 (37/116)
    Prizes:$8,100 ($33,645)

Level 1 od Day 1b is now underway with 27 players in their seats to start the day. Among the players in action early are Jeff Charlebois, Tyler Thomas, Ben Locker, Kali Shuali, and Cardelle Arseneault (Szego).

  • Michael Malm is the Stack to Beat for 1b Players

    Event:#1: $340 Deepstack ($300 + $40)
    Dates:Day 1a: Nov 7, 2 PM
    Day 1b: Nov 8. 2 PM
    Day 1c, Nov 9, 2 PM
    Day 2: Nov 10, Noon
    Blinds:30/40 Min
    Start Stack:20k
    Late Entry:10 Levels (~8:15 pm)
Day 1 Ends:16 Levels ~11:30 pm (or 10%+1 of Starting Field)

The first flight for the Deepstack game is now in the books with 89 total entries and 10 players moving through to Day 2 on Sunday. At the top of the list is Mike Malm with 261,500 while Scott Calvank (who won the seniors ring in August here) is less than 20k behind for second. See my final Day 1a report for all the qualifying stacks.

Day 1b will be a redo of 1a, though likely with more entries. Given the size of 1a, I am expecting 1b to easily cap 100 before the entries close and will likely push through to 110 or more.

  • Simmons Leads 1c Stacks

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:17/161 (40/370)
    Prizes:$45,885 ($105,450)

Caleb Simmons is the big stack from Day 1c with 430,500 in his bag at the end of the night. That won’t quite be enough to take top spot for Day 2, as 1b leader Dale Posein bagged about 15k more than Simmons. Ty Adams was second for 1c with 425k with Dave Howat, Mal Hagan, and Paul Sokoloff rounding out the top five counts. Full 1c stacks are below, and I’ll have the Day 2 seats assignments posted in about half an hour in the Day 2 starting post.

  • Day 1c is Over

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:17/161 (40/370)
    Prizes:$45,885 ($105,450)

Day 1c is now complete with 17 players left with chips. It was Dave Howat who got them to the bags when he cracked pocket aces by hitting a straight. He flopped a gutty with ace-queen, turned a double gutty, then rivered the straight for the win.

I’ll update the bags for 1c shortly and get the Day 2 seat assignments posted shortly after that.

  • Hand-for-Hand

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:18/161 (41/370)
    Prizes:$45,885 ($105,450)

They are down to 18 players left now, one off the bags coming out, so play is now hand-for-hand. They will be playing hand-for-hand until another player is eliminated, even if that extends into Level 17 as once hand-for-hand starts, they need to finish it out.

Ty Adams looks like the chip leader now with about 420k in front of him, but Caleb Simmons isn’t far behind with almost 400k.

  • Final Level of Play

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:20/161 (43/370)
    Prizes:$45,805 ($105,450)

Level 16 has just begun and this will be the final level of play no matter what. They are three eliminations away from an early end, but either way, the bags will come out by the end of this level.

  • Four from the Bags

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:21/161 (44/370)
    Prizes:$44,885 ($105,450)

They re down to 21 left with about 5 minutes to play in Level 15. Level 16 will be the final level of the day with 1c either ending when they hit 17, or at the end of Level 16.

  • 24 Remain on Break

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:24/161 (47/370)
    Prizes:$45,885 ($105,450)

The 1c players are on the final break of 1c with the end of Level 14. There are 24 players left which puts them 7 eliminations off the end of the night so the bags will likely come out near the end of Level 15 or start of Level 16.

  • 10 Off the Bags

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:27/161 (50/370)
    Prizes:$45,885 ($105,450)

The 1c field is down to 27 remaining with about 10 minutes to play in Level 14. They’ll go for a break following this level, then return for two more levels, in theory. In practice, they will most likely play down to 17 sometime in Level 15 or early 16 to end the night before the end of 16.

  • 161 Entries for 1c; 370 Total

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:35/161 (58/370)
    Prizes:$45,885 ($105,450)

The entries are closed and all the numbers are confirmed with 161 entries for today’s flight and 370 across all three starting days. That puts the final prizes at $105,450 with 37 players getting a piece of that. The winner is set to pocket $23,199 with two other players at the FT getting five-figure payouts. The min-cash for 37th is $791.

It should be noted that the payouts are provisional based on tonight’s finish. They will play down to 17 players left tonight for the bags to come out, and the prizes are accurate assuming that’s what happens. If they end up with more (ie, they play through the end of Level 16) or less (ie, more than one player busts during hand-for-hand) the payouts will need to be adjusted. Full provisional prizes will be posted under the payouts tab shortly.

  • Dinner Time

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:63/160 (86/369)
    Prizes:$45,600 ($105,165)

The 1c players are on their dinner break now with entries set to close when they return in just over 40 minutes. The field for today is now at 160 entries for 369 in total and combined prizes of $105,165.

  • 15 Minutes to Dinner

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:63/158 (86/367)
    Prizes:$45,030 ($104,595)

There are just under 15 minutes to play in Level 10 and that means the end of entries is about an hour away. The players will head out for the 45-minute dinner break after this level and entries will be closed when they return from dinner.

  • About 75 Minutes to Enter

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:63/153 (86/362)
    Prizes:$43,605 ($103,170)

Level 9 is coming to a close and Level 10 will be the final level of poker before the end of entries. The desk is open throughout the dinner break but will be closed when they sit down for Level 11 at about 8:15 pm.

  • Second Break

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:72/151 (95/360)
    Prizes:$43,035 ($102,600)

The payers are now on their second break of the day with the end of Level 8. The field is now up to 151 for 360 in total across all three starting days for combined prizes of $102,600.

  • Nearing 150 Entries for 1c

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:81/147 (104/356)
    Prizes:$41,895 ($101,460)

The field is up to 147 entries with about 10 minutes to play in Level 8. They’ll go for another break at the end of this level, then return for two more levels of poker before the dinner break. Entries will close at the end of the dinner break, which will be in just over 2 hours.

  • $100k in Prizes

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:82/142 (105/351)
    Prizes:$40,470 ($100,035)

The prize pook just kicked over $100k with 142 entries here on Day 1c. That puts the three-day field at 351 for prizes of $100,035. There are still about 2.5 hours for that number to grow before the entry desk shuts down.

  • Nearly $100k

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:90/140 (113/349)
    Prizes:$39,900 ($99,465)

The field is now 2 entries shy of $100k with Level 7 just underway. There are still a bit less than 3 hours left to enter today’s final flight, so it looks like a lock for prizes of over $100k.

  • More than $96k in Prizes

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:99/129 (122/338)
    Prizes:$36,765 ($96,330)

They are now just 13 entries away from $100k in combined prizes with 129 entries on the board for 1c. That puts the combined prizes at $96,330 with about 3.5 hours left to enter this final flight to Day 2.

  • First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:99/121 (122/330)
    Prizes:$34,485 ($94,050)

The 1c players are just moments from the first break of the day with 121 entries on the board for today’s flight. That puts the combined total for prizes at a bit more than $94k with 330 total entries so far with about 4.25 hours left to enter.

  • 1c Nearing 1b Total in Level 4

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:100/117 (123/326)
    Prizes:$33,345 ($92,910)

There are just under 15 minutes to play in Level 4 and the 1c field is already at 117 entries. That is just 3 entries short of yesterday’s end-of-day total so today continues to look like a big one.

The prizes now are just shy of $93k and they’ll cap $100k with just 25 more entries today.

  • $90k in Prizes

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:107/107 (130/316)
    Prizes:$30,495 ($90,060)

The combined prize pool is now over $90k with 107 entries on the board for 1c and 316 across all three starting flights. There are still just under 5 hours left to get into the game, so prizes of $100k+ are still in the cards.

On my last circuit of the room, I spotted Haven Taylor, Paul Sokoloff, Paul Brar (Calgary), Willie Hernandez, Kali Shuali, Willie Hernandez, JJ Johnstone, John Foley, Zishan Kassam, Zhi Jiang, Matt Kwong, David Thompson, Gail Flaherty, Peter Amic, and Dave Howat.

  • More than 100 Entries

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:102/102 (125/311)
    Prizes:$29,070 ($88,635)

It’s a big day here on 1c with more than 100 entries in the game in Level 3. There are still 20 minutes to play in the level with the first break scheduled following Level 4.

Among the recent entries I’ve spotted are Mal Hagan, Ben Locker, and Gurdeep Parhar.

  • Jordan Banfield Wins Second Event at FSS

Jordan Banfield is have a great week so far here at the Fall Super Stack after taking down his second event of the series. He picked up his first win on Friday night in the 6-Max PKO and now he’s just bagged the win in Event #1: Deepstack.

When it got heads up, he and runner-up Andy Truong decided to make an even chop of the money with Banfield taking the win for the bigger stack. He also chopped for the win in Event #3 on Friday, and between the two games, he’s now pocketed close to $22k from the series so far.

This is his third live win including Friday and will mark his second biggest live score. His first win and biggest score also came here at Deerfoot in the 2021 Fall Super Stack when he won this very event, the $340 Deepstack.

  • Andy Truong Out in 2nd Place for $18,981 (after chop)

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:1/370
    Prizes:$105,450
    Andy Truong

It was already a pretty long day when Jordan Banfield and Andy Truong got heads up so they decided to do an even chop of the money with Banfield taking the win with the bigger stack. Both players earned $18,981 for their day’s work.

  • Patricia Kananda Out in 3rd Place for $10,018

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:3/370
    Prizes:$105,450
    Patricia Kananda

Patricia Kananda got her money in with king-queen, but ran into ace-king for Andy Truong. There was a king on the flop and nothing else to helo either hand to Truong’s ace kicker sent Kananda to the rail for 3rd place tonight.

  • Truong Doubles Again

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:3/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Andy Truong raised to 225k, then shoved after Jordan Banfield raised to 550k. Banfield called but his nines were behind the kings of Truong. The kings held for a double on his short stack of 800k, but Banfield still looks to be the leader with about 3.4 million in front of him.

  • Truong Doubles

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:3/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Andy Truong was the short stack after doubling up both other players, and he shoved his button with 1.04 million. Jordan Banfield called it off quickly and was in good shape with ace-nine of spades against ten-nine of diamonds.

Truong smashed the 578 flop for the open-ended straight flush draw, then turned the flush on the 4 turn. The river was a meaningless queen and Truong doubled back into it. All three players are now pretty close in stacks with the average stack right now about 25 bigs.

  • Kananda Flops it to Double

    Level:27 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:3/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Patricia Kananda shoved the button for 1.065 million and after getting a count, Andy Truong called from the small blind. He had pocket sixes and was racing against the ace-jack for Kananda. She spiked her jack on the flop and held to win the race and get the double.

  • Banfield Shoves River

    Level:27 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:3/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Andy Truong raised the small blind to 200k and Jordan Banfield called from the big. Truong led for 125k on the 1047 and Banfield called to the 2 turn.

Truong fired 420k and Banfield flatted to the [invalid notations] river. Truong checked, then folded when Banfield shoved.

  • Truong Still Leads at Break

    Andy Truong3,725,000
  • Banfield Flops it for Double

    Level:26 (30000/60000/60000)
    Entries:3/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Jordan Banfield raised to 14k from the button, then snapped it off when ANdy Truong shoved his big blind with the big stack. It started out as a race between ace-jack of hearts for Banfield and pocket fours for Truong, but Banfield smashed the all-heart flop for the nut flush, leaving Truong drawing very thin to a boat. The turn and river didn’t deliver for Truong and Banfield got a double on 1.285 million.

  • Paul Sokoloff Out in 4th Place for $7.909

    Level:26 (30000/60000/60000)
    Entries:3/370
    Prizes:$105,450
    Paul Sokoloff

They are down to the final three now after Paul Sokoloff lost a race for his life to Andy Truong. Truong raised to 130k from the button before Sokoloff shoved the small blind.

Truong asked for a count, saying he was “probably calling” but wanted to be sure. Sokoloff had just under 1.6 million and Truong called it down with more.

Truong was on ace-queen, racing against the pocket jacks of Sokoloff. The ace came on the turn and Sokoloff couldn’t find a jack to help out.

  • Dave Howat Out in 5th Place for $7,909

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:4/370
    Prizes:$105,450
    Dave Howat

There are just four players left in Event #1 now after Dave Howat hit the rail in 5th place recently. I missed the action while I was in the washroom.

  • Banfield Takes it on River

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:5/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Andy Truong raised 105k from the cutoff and Jordan Banfield called from the small blind to see a flop of 3J4. Banfield check-raised from 70k to 140k and Truong called to the Q turn. Both players checked it through to the 7 river where Banfield fired 300k. After a few seconds of thought, Truong’s cards found the muck and the pot went to Banfield.

  • Mike Malm Out in 6th Place for $5,800

    Level:24 (20000/40000/40000)
    Entries:5/370
    Prizes:$105,450
    Mike Malm

There are just five players left in Event #1 now after Mike Malm hit the rail in 6th place tonight. I missed the action, but Malm chopped the Mystery Bounty last night, so he’s having a pretty good run so far early in this series.

  • Bron Johnson Out in 7th Place for $4,745

    Level:24 (20000/40000/40000)
    Entries:6/370
    Prizes:$105,450
    Bron Johnson

They are down to 6 remaining on the FT of Event #1 after Born Johnson took seventh place tonight. I missed the action while I was updating some details on the other two tournaments running right now.

Johnson is one of about half a dozen players in from the Okanagan. They run a ~50-person league there called the SSOP. Kurt Lillemo is another member of the league here at Deerfoot and he picked up 3rd place in the 6-Max PKO the other night, so they’ve been running well so far this series.

  • Banfield Doubles

    Level:24 (20000/40000/40000)
    Entries:7/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Jordan Banfield shoved under the gun for 430k and Andy Truong reshoved from the cutoff with the big stack. Mike Malm was on the big blind and tanked for a bit, saying he had an “ace and a picture. Bad picture though.” He eventually mucked ace-jack face-up and it was a race between the ace-king of clubs and the pocket sevens for Banfield.

The paired board ran out queen high, missing both players and leaving the sevens in the lead for the win.

  • Truong Leads at Dinner

    Level:23 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:7/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Level 23 is complete and the remaining 7 players are on break. Below is a look at how the final 7 stack up right now.

  • Kananda Doubles in Race

    Level:23 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:7/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Mike Malm raised the cutoff to 100k before Jordan Banfield repopped it from the button to 250k. Big blind Patricia Kananda shoved for a bit more than 400k.

Malm got out of the way but Banfield decided he was priced in for the call. His pocket eights were racing against the ace-king for Kananda and she spiked her ace on the turn to take it down.

  • Sokoloff Gets There to Survive

    Level:23 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:7/370
    Prizes:$105,450

Paul Sokoloff shoved the cutoff for 390k while big blind Dave Howat was away from the table. That left Jordan Banfield in the small blind last to act, and he made the call with more.

Banfield was good with ace-queen against ace-seven, but Sokoloff turned a seven to take the lead and hold for the win. The hand put Sokoloff up to about 850k while Banfield dropped to about 600k.

  • Jackson Yang Out in 8th Place for $2,636

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:7/370
    Prizes: $105,450
    Jackson Yang

Jackson Yang opened the hijack to 50k and it folded to big blind Dave Howat who reraised to 125k. Yang hit the tank for a bit before shoving all in, and Howat snap-called.

It was a classic cooler with Yang on ace-king against pocket aces for Howat. There was a bit of sweat for Howat on the [invalid notations] flop, but ultimately his aces held for the win.

  • Haven Taylor Out in 9th Place for $2,109

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:8/370
    Prizes:$105,450
    Haven Taylor

They are down to 8 left on the final table of E1 now after Haven Taylor took 9th place. I missed the action while I was out of the room for a minute.
