Trevor Patrick Comes from Behind to Defeat Jody Fayant in the Main
Level: 28 (50000/100000/100000) Entries: 1/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 11:55 PM
Trevor Patrick winner 02
Jody Fayant Trevor Patrick had to come from behind to take down Jody Fayant tonight, and he did it in dramatic fashion. In the big hand that turned the tide, they got it in preflop after a raising war, and it was ace-queen for Patrick against tens for Fayant.
Fayant was one card away from winning it all, but Patrick found a queen on the river to save his tournament and get the double. That gave him the lead, and a few hands later, Patrick raised king-queen, then called when Fayant shoved jack-eight suited. Patrick was in good shape to start, and flopped a king to get even better. The king held, and the game was over.

Patrick Gets There on the River for Double
Level: 27 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 2/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 11:40 PM The game was nearly over, but for the river. Trevor Patrick raised to 240k, then shoved when Jody Fayant reraised to 780k. Fayant called it off with more, and it was a race between pocket tens for Fayant and ace-queen off for Patrick.
The 8♣2♥5♥6♣Q♥ board looked good for the tens until the queen hit the river. Patrick now has the big stack after doubling from 4.81 million. That puts him close to 10 million, with Fayant down under 3 million.
-
Glenn Tarasoff Out in 3rd Place for $27,460
Level: 27 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 2/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 11:25 PM
Glenn Tarasoff Glenn Tarasoff shoved his short stack with ace-queen, and Jody Fayant called it off with more, holding pocket threes. Tarasoff flopped an ace and turned a queen, but Fayant ran out to four clubs, and his three of clubs gave him the flush and the win.
Fayant is now heads up, with the lead, against Trevor Patrick.
-
Roymond Kim Out in 4th Place for $21,125
Level: 27 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 3/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 11:10 PM
Roymond Kim Jody Fayant raised the small blind to 160k, and Roymond Kim called to the 7♦9♥2♣ flop. Fayant fired 90k, and Kim called.
It kicked off on the 10♦ turn when Fayant bet 200k, Kim raised to 500k, and Fayant shoved. Kim called with less, but his two pair with 10♠9♣ was behind the turned straight for Fayant with J♦8♦. The 5♣ river didn’t change anything, and Fayant took it down.
Glenn Tarasoff called Fayant “Recklessly Disciplined” earlier tonight, and it seems to fit pretty well.

Ali Razzaq Out in 5th Place for $16,265
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 4/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 10:30 PM
Ali Razzaq Ali Razzaq had half the chips in play at the last break, but just before the current break, he sent the remainder of his chips to Jody Fayant. Razzaq was getting smashed by the deck earlier today, but that luck left him in the last two levels.
Two big hands told the tale. First, he doubled up Trevor Patrick when Patrick’s sevens held against Razzaq’s sixes. Then, in the final hand before the break, he got ace-seven in against ace-queen for Fayant, and after Fayant spiked the queen on the flop and held to send Razzaq out in 5th place.

Tarasoff Takes One
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 5/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 10:20 PM Trevor Patrick limped the small blind, and Glenn Tarasoff checked his option. They both checked the 8♥9♠9♣ flop, and Patrick check-called for 100k on the 4♥ turn.
Patrick fired 200k on the 6♠ river, but Tarasoff reraised to 500k and took it down.
-
Fayant Flops it for the Lead
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 5/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 10:05 PM The money went in on the flop with the board showing 10♠6♣7♥, after Ali Razzaq bet, Jody Fayant shoved, and Razzaq called it off. Razzaq was on top pair with ten-three, but Fayant flopped the joint with 9♥8♥. Razzaq couldn’t find a miracle runout, and Fayant is up to around 5 million. There’s another break coming in about 15 minutes, and I’ll do another chip count then.
-
Stephen Dauphinais Out in 6th Place for $12,885
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 5/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 955 PM
Stephen Dauphinais They played 6-handed for about two hours before Stephen Dauphinais shoved early. Before looking at his hand, Jody Fayant said, “If I have two cards over ten, I’m calling.”
He looked down and snapped it off. Dauphinais was on ace-five, and drawing thin against pocket tens for Fayant, despite not having any cards “over ten”.
The board of 2♥6♣J♥Q♣5♠ wasn’t enough for Dauphinais to crack the tens, and he was out in 6th place today.
-
Fayant Flops It
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 9:35 PM Jody Fayant raised to 130k under the gun, and Ali Razzaq called from the big blind. Razzaq check-called for 200k on the 3♥5♣J♣ flop, but when he checked again on the [invalid notations].
-
Fayant Folds to Four-Bet Shove
Level: 25 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 9:10 PM Ali Razzaq opened the cutoff to 110k before Jody Fayant three-bet his button to 325k, leaving himself 1.3 million behind. Razzaq four-bet shoved the covering stack, and Fayant hit the tank for several minutes, muttering to himself, trying to work out what Razzaq was on. He eventually mucked his hand, so we’ll never know what either of them was playing.
-
Patrick Doubles to Stay Alive
Level: 25 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $387,793 Local Time: 9:00 PM Trevor Patrick shoved 320k from the cutoff, and Stephen Dauphinais called from the button before the blinds folded. Patrick had pocket eights against ace-eight for Dauphinais, and after the [invalid notations] board was out, the eights were still good.
-
Tarasoff, Fayant Double
Level: 25 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 8:50 PM Trevor Patrick raised to 110k before Glenn Tarasoff shoved the small blind. Patrick called, but he was in rough shape with kings over fives and couldn’t find his cards.
The next hand, it was Jody Fayant’s turn to shove, with Patrick calling it off. It was a race between pocket tens for Fayant and ace-queen for Patrick, but when Fayant flopped the ten for a set, it was all but over. Patrick found a queen on the turn, but that wasn’t the right card for him, as he was dead despite turning the pair.
That leaves Patrick very short now.
-
Razzaq Running the Table
Level: 25 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 8:20 PM The players are on a break before the start of Level 25, and Ali Razzaq has nearly half the chips in play with 6 players remaining. He’s playing just shy of 6 million, with Trevor Patrick as the next biggest stack with a bit more than 2 million.

Tarasoff Nearing a Million
Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 8:10 PM Glenn Tarasoff shoved his small blins, and Ali Razzaq called from the big blind. Tarasoff was in good shape with A♠J♠ against [invalid notations] for Razzaq. The board ran out 7♠3♣2♣3♠A♣ and Tarasoff held for the double.
-
Dauphinais Doubles
Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 8:00 PM Stephen Dauphinais opened the hijack to 80k before Roymond Kim repopped the big blind to 220k. Dauphinais shoved for 715k, and after a count and a bit of tank time, Kim called it off with more.
Dauphinais was on kings, while Kim was looking for an ace with A♦10♣. Kim turned a gutshot, but that was all he found on the 5♠7♦6♣9♠3♦ board, and the kings held.
-
Ambrose Ng Out in 7th Place for $10,140
Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 6/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 7:55 PM
Ambrose Ng Ambrose Ng took the first 5-digit payout from the Main Event for 7th place. I missed the action, but Ng was one of the short stacks at the table, basically fighting with Glenn Tarasoff for that honour.
There is another break coming in about 15 minutes, and I get another round of counts then. However, Ali Razzaq is the obvious leader right now with two stacks of 100k chips, plus a bunch of stacks of 10k chips for around 5 million of the roughly 12 million in play.
-
Kim Takes Another One
Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 7/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 7:25 PM Jody Fayamt raised the small blind to 110k, and Roymond Kim called from the big. They checked it down through [invalid notations] until the river, when Fayant fired 210k. Kim called, and his king-jack was good after Fayant mucked his hand.
-
Kim Doubles with Rockets

Dauphinais had ace-king, and 4♥Q♠5♦J♥K♣ didn’t change anything, and Kim got the double.
-
Adam Mill Out in 8th Place for $8,025
Level: 23 (15000/30000/30000) Entries: 7/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 7:05 PM
Adam Mill Adam Mill started the day as the big chip leader, but he could only run that into 8th place today. In the final hand, Stephen Dauphinais raised early, and Mill called from the blinds. The money went in on the K♠5♠K♥ flop after Mill check-jammed over a bet from Dauphinais.
Dauphinais called with more, and his K♣8♣ was way ahead of the A♥9♣ for Mill. J♦8♥ on the runout improved Dauphinais to the boat, sending the start-of-day leader home in 8th place.
-
Mill Defends Big Blind
Level: 23 (15000/30000/30000) Entries: 8/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 6:25 PM Ambrose Ng is one of the shorter stacks at the table, and he’s even shorter after the recent hand. He raised under the gun to 75k, and Trevor Patrick and Adam Mill called from the blinds.
The blinds checked the 9♦4♠A♥ flop before Ng fired 115k. Patrick flatted from the small, but Mill wasn’t having it, making it 570k to go.
That was enough to put Ng all in, and he folded, with Patrick folding behind to send the pot to Mill.
-

Razzaq check-raised the 5♠3♠3♦ flop from 220k to 600k. Dauphinais called to the Q♦ turn, but then mucked when Razzaq shoved all in.

There is another break coming in just under 30 minutes, and I’ll get another round of full chip counts then. Adam Mill is still leading the way with about 3 million in play.
-

-
Mike Malm Out in 14th Place for $3,755

It folded back to Malm and he put in the rest with K♦9♦ against A♣J♦ for Gray. They both connected with the 9♣2♣J♥4♠10♥ board, but Gray hit it harder and held for the win.
-
Pam MacNaughton Out in 15th Place for $3,755
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 14/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 4:35 PM The field is down to 14 left after Pam MacNighton ended her run in 15th place today. She raised the hijack to 50k, and was called by Adam Mill in the cutoff and defending champion Todd Oakley on the button.
The flop was 3♣3♥7♠ and MacNaughton shoved 425k. Oakley asked for a count, then called. MacNaughton had overs and backdoor hearts with K♥J♥ against top pair and backdoor stright draws for Oakley with 7♦5♦.
6♥10♠ on the runout didn’t change anything, and the defending champ sent MacNaughton to the rail in 15th place.

Razzaq In the Hunt for Player of the Series
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 16/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 4:20 PM The Player of the Series race is coming down to the wire once again. Ali Razzaq is sitting second in chips in the Main Event right now, and if he can get into the top two spots, he’ll jump ahead of the current leader Benny Sarnelli.
Sarnelli surged into the PoS lead last night on the back of his 5th cash in the series, 3rd place in the $340 NLH. He hasn’t won a trophy this time around, but consistent cashing in about 1/3rd of the games in the series has pushed him to the top.
He’s in action across the casino in the Last Chance event today, so he’s still battling for cash #6, and if he can score 6th or better in the final trophy event today, he should have it locked up no matter what anyone else does.
Stefan Maloney, Bash Ramahi, Cam Stewart, and Pete Fylyma are among the other players with an outside chance at the title depending on the results of the Last Chance, but they all have to run pretty much perfect to take it down.

Kannekens was on queen-ten, but he ran into aces and could find any cards to crack them.

17 Remain in the Main
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 17/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 3:45 PM The final 17 players in the Main Event are just back in their seats for Level 21, and Adam Mill is still the big leader. He’s nearly doubled his stack here on Day 2 and is now playing more than 2.2 million. Aki Razzaq is about 800k behind in 2nd place.
Richard Rex was the first player eliminated from the final two tables, scoring $3,265 for 18th place tonight.

Adam Mill Leads Day 2 of the Main; 38 Players Return

Event #14: $1,100 NLH Main Event Day 2
Date: Jul 26, Noon Blinds: 60 Minutes Entries: 38/306 Prizes (1st Place): $287,793 ($61,273) Chip Leader: Adam Mill (1.2 million) Day 2 of the Main Event is set, with 38 players returning for a share of $287,793. Day 1a got 143 entries, with an extra 20 on 1b (163) for a total of 306 entries in this Main Event.
Day 2 action gets going at noon on Sunday, and they’ll play to a winner before they finish. Blinds on Day 2 are one hour, but will drop to 30 minutes when play is heads-up at the end of the night. Day 2 play will begin with 17:18 remaining in Level 17, and once the level changes to 18, blinds will be 60 minutes.
Adam Mill brings the big stack into Day 2 by a mile. He’s almost half a million ahead of the next best, Ali Razzaq, with 757k. Also in Day 2 is the defending champion, Todd Oakley, with a bit less than half a million. Full Day 2 stacks are below, sorted by table & seat, and also by name.
Alek Gillies will be in at noon to cover the start of the Main Event Day 2, and I’ll be in later to finish the day out.

Mill Has More Than a Mil from 1b
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 20/163 (38/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 2:15 AM Adam Mill is the massive leader from Day 1b, bagging 1.2 million. That’s nearly half a million more than Ali Razzaq in 2nd place. Full 1b stacks below.

Brar Gets Them to Day 2
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 20/163 (38/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 2:05 AM The bags are out after Paul Brar won a race against Chris Hak to burst the bubble tonight. It was the most classic of races, with Brar on ace-king against pocket queens for Hak. Hak looked to be doubling until the king hit the river after the rest of the board missed both players.
The remaining players are now bagging up – stay tuned for the 1b chip counts and the Day 2 post within an hour or two.

Rex Doubles
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 21/163 (39/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 2:00 AM Ricard Rex just won a race with ace-queen over tens for Ali Razzaq to grab a double and stay alive. They are now playing the 6th hand with the clock paused on the bubble.
-
Hand for Hand
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 21/163 (39/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 1:45 AM They are hand-for-hand in Day 1b of the Main, with 21 players remaining. The clock is paused with 27:18 remaining in Level 17 for the first hand on the bubble.
-
Moved to Poker with 22 Remaining
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 22/163 (40/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 1:35 AM The final three tables in 1b have moved to the poker room to finish the night out. There are 22 players remaining, and they need to lose two more before the bags. The next elimination will pause the clock for hand-for-hand play.
-
3 Off the Bags
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 23/163 (41/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 1:05 AM They are now three off the bags in 1b of the Main Event, with 23 players remaining. A bit more than 15 minutes remain in Level 16, and they’ll go hand-for-hand after two more eliminations.

Five Off the Bags
Level: 15 (2500/5000/5000) Entries: 25/163 (43/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 12:15 AM 1b of the Main is now five off the bags with 25 players remaining. Just over 10 minutes remain in Level 15, so it looks like they’ll hit the bubble sometime in Level 16, after the upcoming break. I’ll get a full look at the remaining stacks on the break.

$61,273 for the Winner
Level: 14 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 31/163 (49/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 11:35 PM The prizes for Day 2 are in, and the winner tomorrow is set to pocket more than $60k. 38 players will be in the money on Day 2, which means that tonight’s flight will play down to 20 players, rather than 21 as I previously guessed. There are now 31 players left, putting them 11 off the bags with about 10 minutes to play in Level 14.

Final Four Tables, 15 Off the Bags
Level: 14 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 36/163 (54/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 11:20 PM The 1b field is down to 36 players, on the final four tables. That puts them 15 off the bags with about 30 minutes to play in Level 14. It seems like a reasonable bet they’ll hit the bubble around the same time as 1a, in Level 16.
-
Final Five Tables, 23 Off the Bags
Level: 13 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 44/163 (62/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 10:35 PM They just broke down to the final five tables in 1b of the Main Event, with 44 players remaining. Just over 30 minutes remain in Level 13, and they still need to eliminate 23 players before the bags come out.
-
Razzaq Leads on Break
Level: 13 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 46/163 (64/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 10:25 PM Level 13 is about 5 minutes away, and after a quick look around the room, it looks like Ali Razzaq, who won the 6-Max game earlier in the week, is the leader right now with about 450k in front of him. Quinn Kannekens is also playing more than 400k, with Adam Mill and Raymond Trieu playing stacks in the 300s.
-
Down to 6 Tables
Level: 12 (1500/2500/2500) Entries: 54/163 (72/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 9:35 PM Level 12 has just begun, and the field is down to 54 on the final six tables. There’s another break coming at the end of this level, and I’ll have another look around for big stacks when they are away.
-
7 Tables Remain in the Main
Level: 11 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 62/163 (80/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 8:55 PM The 1b field is down to the final 7 tables now as Level 11 begins. They still need to go through about 40 more players before the end of the day.
-
1b Entries Closed with 163 on the Board
Level: 10 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 76/163 (94/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 8:20 PM Dinner is complete, and the final unofficial number for 1b was 163 entries. If that holds, it will mean a combined field of 306 entries for prizes of $287,793.
21 players will be getting bags later tonight to return for Day 2 tomorrow, and with the 18 players waiting from Day 1a, it should mean 39 players splitting those prizes.
Among the new entries over the break were Maddie Sharma and Ramaz Haymour, while most of the previously mentioned players are also still in the mix. I am expecting to see the numbers drop relatively quickly over the next hour, but I also expect the drop in players here to be reflected in increased entries in the side game in the poker room.
-
Trieu Looks to Be Leading on Dinner
Level: 9 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 73/160 (91/303 combined) Prizes: $150,480 (Combined: $284,972) Local Time: 7:55 PM Just under 20 minutes remain in dinner, and after a look around the room, it looks like Raymond Trieu is the leader. He’s playing 275k right now, with a couple of other stacks, belonging to Shawn Taghavi and Rob Limpert, of 200k or more. Wes Huffman is playing around 180k.
There are still a lot of stacks out there – it’s possible I missed a big one.
-
Dinner Time
Level: 9 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 70/156 (88/299 combined) Prizes: $146,718 (Combined: $281,210) Local Time: 7:30 PM The 1b players are just moments from dinner, with the field at 156, for a combined total of 299. That puts the prizes over $280k, and I’d expect that a final number around $285k seems reasonable, after the entries to come during the dinner break.
-
More than 150 1b Entries
Level: 9 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 74/153 (92/296 combined) Prizes: $143,897 (Combined: $278,388) Local Time: 7:10 PM About 20 Minutes remain in Level 9, and the 45-minute dinner break will follow this level. Entries close when they sit down for Level 10 after dinner, so there’s a bit more than an hour to jump into the Main Event for this series.
I still expect another 10-20 entries before the end of dinner, with the final field likely settling somewhere between 160 & 170 for 1b. The combined field is now just 4 enries shy of 300, so that milestone looks sure to fall, but they’d need to get to 176 entries today to crack $300k in prizes, so that may be a bit out of reach.
-
1b Ahead of 1a Halfway Through Level 8
Level: 8 (500/1000/1000) Entries: 84/145 (102/288 combined) Prizes: $136,373 (Combined: $270,864) Local Time: 6:25 PM The 1b field just capped the opening flight, and there is stil more than 1 hour and 45 minutes left to enter this final flight. The combined field is now 12 entries shy of 300, with the total prizes at more than $270k. I still expect another 20-30 entries before the desk closes after the dinner break following Level 9.
-
10 Off the 1a Numbers
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 80/133 (98/276 combined) Prizes: $125,087 (Combined: $259,578) Local Time: 6:05 PM The 1b field is at 133 entries now, just 10 shy of the 1a total. Level 7 has about 5 minutes to play, with two more levels of open entry, plus the dinner break, to follow this level.
A 1b field of 200 is looking less likely as it progresses, but cracking 150 still looks like a reasonable bet.
-
16 Away from 1a Numbers on Second Break
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 88/127 (106/270 combined) Prizes: $119,444 (Combined: $253,935) Local Time: 5:20 PM The 1b players are on their second break of the day, with Level 7 about 10 minutes away. The 1b field is up to 127, which puts them just 16 entries away from the 1a total. At this point on Day 1a, there were fewer than 110 entries, so 1b is looking to be about 20% bigger than 1a at this point.
-
Nearing $250k in Prizes
Level: 6 (300/600/600) Entries: 89/120 (107/263 combined) Prizes: $112,860 (Combined: $247,352) Local Time: 4:55 PM The 1b field just hit 120 entries, with about half of Level 6 left to play. That puts the combined field at 263, for total prizes just a couple of entries shy of $250k.
Among the players in action today are Keith Schultz, Ian Alvarado, Allen Butkovic, Nu Teliani, Tina Nguyen, Kenny Gooding, Jody Fayany, Eric Wasylenko, Adam Lamers, Ron Limpert, Vikram Gill, Pete Fylyma, Hassan Issa, Ali Khani, Alex Liu, Daniel Luczyk, and Francis Fan.
-
More than 250 Entries Combined
Level: 6 (300/600/600) Entries: 86/110 (104/253 combined) Prizes: $103,455 (Combined: $237,947) Local Time: 4:35 PM The combined field is now over 150 with more than 3.5 hours left to enter the final flight. The 1b field is now at 110 entries, putting the 1b prizes over $100k already, and the combined prizes are closing in on $240k.
-
100 Entries for 1b
Level: 5 (300/500/500) Entries: 84/100 (102/243 combined) Prizes: $94,050 (Combined: $228,542) Local Time: 4:00 PM 30 minutes remain in Level 5, and the field is already at 100 entries for 1b. That puts the two-day total at 243, fro combined prizes of almost $230k.
Ron Lothian, Denis Mujcin, Matthew Ouellette, Jamie Martin, Paul Brar (Edm), Glenn Tarasoff, Jimmy Lee, and Stefan Maloney are among the players in action right now.
-
Nearing 100 Entries
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 79/93 (97/236 combined) Prizes: $87,467 (Combined: $221,958) Local Time: 3:50 PM The field today is moving significantly faster than 1a, as expected. The 1a field didn’t crack 90 entries until Level 5, and 1b is now over that with time to play in Level 4.
The pace is still looking like a 1b field of 200+ is a decent bet. DJ Sharma, Leo Zhang, Gerals Chung, Oleksandr Lobur, Ross Wilson, Ryan Comely, Ryan Cairns, Ye Ping Shan, and Nicholas Peterson are among the players in the qb mix so far.
-
84 Entries in Level 4 of 1b
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 76/84 (94/227 combined) Prizes: $79,002 (Combined: $213,494) Local Time: 3:20 PM The combined prizes are more than $210k, with the first break of Day 1b just completed. Entries are still open for just shy of 5 hours, so there’s plenty of time for that number to grow.
Among the players I’ve spotted for this one is the defending champion, Todd Oakley. Tyler Foran, Larry Quon, Rhonda Fiveland. Ali Razzaq, Shawn Taghavi, and Holly Berry are among the other players in action today.

Event #14: $1,100 NLH Main Event Day 1B ($990 + $110)
Date: Jul 25, 1 PM Blinds: 40 Minutes Starting Stack: 40k Late Entry: 9 Levels (Entries Close ~8:15 PM) Day 1 Ends: 12.5% of the Field Entries: 18/143 Prizes: $134,492 Day 1a was a big one, both in terms of field and length of play. 143 entries turned out for the opening flight to the Main Event on Friday, putting the 1a prizes at almost $135k.
The game went into Level 18 before the final hand was played, after hand-for-hand play started late in Level 16. When the dust cleared, Trevor Patrick was sitting on the huge stack with 712k. His tablemate Mike Malm also bagged more than 700k, with Stephen Dauphinais (654k), Pam MacNaughton (548k), and Jarret Gray (483k) rounding out the top five – see below for a full list of 1a stacks.
Gray got into the top five counts right at the end of the night, as he finally burst the bubble with 25:04 to go in Level 18, sending Brayden Brown home on the bubble.
The second flight takes off at 1 PM on Saturday, and based on the 1a turnout, it could easily have 200 or more entries. As with 1a, players get 40k in chips to start, for 40-minute blind levels.
There are 9 levels of open entry, with the registration desk closing at 8:15 PM, after the dinner break. The Day will end when they get to 12.5% of the starting field, though as 1a showed, it could be a late one.
I’ll likely be a bit late to the game, but expect coverage to start sometime between 3 & 4 PM.

Gray Bursts the Bubble
Level: 18 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 18/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 3:00 AM Jarret Gray is having a good few days here at PPT #3. He was runner-up in the $560 NLH a couple of days ago, then final-tabled the NLH Bounty last night.
Tonight, he was the player to finally burst the seemingly never-ending bubble. Mike Malm opened to 30k from the cutoff before Brayden Brown shoved the small blind for less than 100k.
Gray asked for a count, then called, forcing Malm out of the pot. “I would have called if you didn’t,” he said to Gray.
Gray was on pocket eights, racing against the A♠K♠ for Brown. Gray took a huge lead on the flop, then held when the board ran out J♠8♣6♥9♦10♦.
Stay tuned for the 1a chips in about an hour.
-
Lahey Doubles to Survive
Level: 18 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 2:50 AM The short stacks keep surviving late on Day 1a. After Pam MacNaughton opened to 40k, Christopher Lahey shoved the short stack.
MacNaughton called with jack-ten of clubs, but Lahey was on king-queen off. Lahey hit the flop with his king. That ultimately held on 4♦9♦K♣5♣9♥, despite MacNaughton turning the club draw.
-
Crema Fading
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 2:40 AM Sebastian Crema looked to be on a sun-run earlier in the day. After running over the field in the PLO Main Event, he had the second-biggest stack at the break after Level 15.
He’s down to fumes now, however. In the final hand of Level 17, he raised to 16k from the button, and Trevor Patrick called from the big blind. Patrick fired 20k on the 3♠3♣2♠ flop, and Crema called to the 4♠ turn.
Patrick fired again, this time for 45k, and Crema found a call. The 4♦ river brought a 55k bet from Patrick, and Crema agonized over the hand for a couple of minutes before putting in the call. Patrick showed pocket nines, and Crema mucked, saying he had an overpair as well.

The Never-Ending Bubble
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 2:30 AM They are just two hands away from Level 18 now, which means they’ve been playing hand-for-hand for about a level and a half already.
-
Switzer Chipping Up
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 2:15 AM Clayton Switzer was the short stack just a few hands ago, but after a double-up and a recent hand, he’s playing more than 200k now.
I missed the early action, but after both players checked the turn on 10♦K♣4♠Q♣6♠, small blind Carson Barton fired 9k into the small pot. Switzer took his time before putting out the call, but his ace-queen of hearts had the queen-jack of spades for Barton capped for the win.
-
Switzer Survives Again
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 2:00 AM Johnny Dalphond raised the cutoff to 24k, and big blind Clayton Switzer hit the tank before shoving his short stack. Dalphond snapped it off with Q♥J♥ and was racing against pocket nines.
K♦9♠6♦7♣3♣ on the board left the nines ahead, and Switzer scored another double to survive again.
-
Dauphinais Doubles in Cooler
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 1:40 AM While I missed the preflop action, on the 7♥3♦5♠ flop, small blind Pam MacNaughton bet 40k. Stephen Dauphinais, who was in early position, tank-shoved his stack of 164k. MacNaughton didn’t take long to call, but she was in rough shape on ace-king against pocket aces for Dauphinais. The J♠3♥ runout didn’t change anything and Dauphinais scored the double.
The next hand will move the game in Level 17.
-
Dalphond Defends Big Blind
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 1:35 AM Carson Barton raised to 12k under the gun, and it folded to Deven Lane in the small blind, who called. Johnny Dalphond, in the big blind and deep into a massage, spent a few seconds playing with his chips before sliding out 75k. Both Barton and Lane mucked fairly quickly to the three-bet.
-
Wild Hand on Table 17; Switzer Doubles the Short Stack
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 1:25 PM It was a hand that could have ended the night when Sebastian Crema woke up with pocket jacks, while Mike Malm, to his left, woke up with pocket queens. Both players slow played the big hand, in part because of the end-of-night bubble, and by the time the board was out, there were four clubs showing.
The river saw a bet from Crema and a raise from Malm, with Crema calling it down. Both players had the club in their pair, and Malm took down a pot that could have ended the night had it been between different players.
The next hand, Clayton Switzer shoved 55k and was called by Jeffery Harcourt. They raced it down between ace-queen for Switzer and deuces for Harcourt, and Switzer flopped a queen, then rivered another one for overkill.
There are still 19 players remaining.
-
MacNaughton Defends the Big
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 1:20 AM Cam Stewart opened the cutoff with a dead button, making it 12k to go. Big stack Pam MacNaughton called from the big blind.
She check-called for 14k on the 4♦10♣6♠ flop, then led for 30k on the 8♠ turn. Stewart didn’t take long to release his hand.
-
Bag Bubble
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 19/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 1:05 AM The clock is paused with 2:04 remaining in Level 16, with the field down to 19 players. They’ll play hand-for-hand now until the next elimination brings out the bags.

MacNaughton Leads Final 23, 5 Off the Bags
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 23/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 12:50 AM Pam MacNaughton is leading the way, 5 eliminations away from the bags. She has more than 550k, but PLO Main Event winner Sebastian Crema is continuing his sun-run from earlier today with the second-place stack, also more than half a million. Below is a look at all remaining players, seats, and stacks.

Double Knockout on Table 17
Level: 15 (2500/5000/5000) Entries: 24/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 12:20 AM There was just a huge hand on table 17. Sebastian Crema, fresh off his PLO Main Event win earlier today, raised it up preflop, and Eric Wasylenko called from the button, as did Ali Razzaq from the big blind.
The all checked the ten-seven-four flop with two hearts, and Razzaq fired a small bet on the jack turn. Crema raised before Wasy shoved. Razzaq over-shoved, sending Crema deep into the tank.
He finally put in the call with a heart draw on eight-six. Razzaq was on a flopped set of fours, while Wasy turned the straight with eight-nine. A heart on the river sent it all to Crema, as he out-stacked the other two.
That leaves the game with 24 players, just six eliminations away from the bags.
-
10 Off the Bags
Level: 15 (2500/5000/5000) Entries: 28/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 12:05 AM With about 25 minutes to play until the next break, the 1a field is now down to 28 players. That puts them ten eliminations away from the expected 18 bags to end the night. I’ll have another look at the chips in the upcoming break.
-
14 Off the Bags
Level: 14 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 32/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 11:20 PM The 1a field is down to 32 players with about 30 minutes to play in Level 14. That puts them 14 off the 18 expected bags for tonight, and at the current pace, is looke like they’ll into Level 16 at least.
-
Some Big Stacks from Break
Level: 13 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 40/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 10:25 PM The field for 1a is confirmed at 143, with 18 bags at the end of the night. Right now, it looks like Blair Stevens is the player with the best chance to bag big.
He’s playing 313k and looks to be the only player with 300k or more. Adonios Pitaoulis is playing 285k, while Trevor Patrick looks to be on 276k.
-
55 Remain
Level: 11 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 55/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 9:10 PM Day 1a is down to 55 players, with just under 30 minutes to play in Level 11. There’s another break following Level 12, and I’ll have a look around for some big stacks at that break.
They are playing down to 18 bags later tonight.
-
143 Entries After Dinner
Level: 10 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 66/143 Prizes: $134,492 Local Time: 8:20 PM Entries for Day 1 of the Main Event are now closed, and it was a solid turnout for the opening flight. The unofficial number is 143 entries, for prizes just shy of $135k.
If those numbers hold, it should mean 18 bags at the end of the night.
-
Dinner Time; 45 Minutes to Enter Day 1a
Level: 9 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 63/138 Prizes: $129,789 Local Time: 7:35 PM The dinner break for Day 1a has just begun, and entries will close when they return to the felt for Level 10 in just under 45 minutes. The field as they head to break is 138, for prizes just shy of $130k. I’d expect at least enough entries over dinner to crack 140, but it seems unlikely they’ll quite get to 150.
-
Final Level of Entries; 1a Prizes Nearing $120k
Level: 9 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 69/126 Prizes: $118,503 Local Time: 6:55 PM Level 9 has just begun, and the field is at 126 entries. That puts the prizes so far at $118,503, with about an hour and 20 minutes left to enter the game.
I’d expect to see another 10-20 entries before the desk shuts down at about 8:15 tonight, so this field could crack 140 entries, and might even flirt with 150.
-
More than $110k in Prizes
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 67/117 Prizes: $110,039 Local Time: 6:00 PM The field is nearing 120 entries for Day 1a, with a bit more than 2 hours left in entries for the opening flight. About 10 minutes remain in Level 7, with two more levels of open-entry poker, plus the 45-minute dinner break, before entries close.
Players who don’t bag a stack today still have one more shot at a Day 2 bag in tomorrow’s Day 1b. Traditionally, 1b tends to be about 50% bigger than 1a, so the field tomorrow could easily approach or beat 200 entries. If they get 200 entries on 1b, it will almost certainly mean a prize pool of more than $300k for Sunday’s Day 2.
-
More than $100k in Prizes
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 68/111 Prizes: $104,396 Local Time: 5:45 PM The prizes for Day 1a are now over $100k with 111 entries on the board. For a Day 1a flight, the numbers are looking pretty good for a final prizes pool between $200k and $400k before the entries end on 1b tomorrow.

Siblings Stack the Table

DJ Sharma and Jo Teliani Table 13 has it’s share of sharks in DJ Sharma and his “self proclaimed sister” Jo Teliani. Teliani currently leads the Alberta Poker Index as the top female. Meanwhile, Sharma won his second WSOPC Ring earlier this year. As well, he is hot off of a deep run in this years WSOP Main Event. He found himself as the second largest stack on multiple days eventually finishing in 78th place for $105,000 USD. Both will be looking to continue this streak heading into the Main Event today.

90 Entries for 1a of the Main
Level: 5 (300/500/500) Entries: 72/90 Prizes: $84,645 Local Time: 4:10 PM Day 1a of the Main Event is nearing 100 entries already, with around 4 hours to go in the entry period. That puts the prizes at nearly $85k, and there’s a good chance there could be $100k or more in the prizes before entries close.

-

Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 21/163 (39/306 combined) Prizes: $153,302 (Combined: $287,793) Local Time: 1:45 AM They are hand-for-hand in Day 1b of the Main, with 21 players remaining. The clock is paused with 27:18 remaining in Level 17 for the first hand on the bubble.
-

Trevor Patrick is the Stack to Beat for 1b Players in the Main

-
Tarasoff Takes One

Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 7/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 7:20 PM Stephen Dauphinais raised early, and Ali Razzaq called from the hijack before Roymond Kim raised the button to 240k. Dauphinais shoved, Razzaq folded, and Kim snapped it off, rolling over pocket aces.
-

Level: 22 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 9/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 5:55 PM Stephen Dauphinais raised the cutoff to 65k before Ali Razzaq came over the top to 220k. Dauphinais wasn’t going anywhere, making it 480k to go, and Razzaq called.
Razzaq check-raised the 5♠3♠3♦ flop from 220k to 600k. Dauphinais called to the Q♦ turn, but then mucked when Razzaq shoved all in.
-

Patrick fired 75k on the 5♥6♥A♦ flop, then 170k on the [invalid notations] river, with Mill calling behind. Level: 22 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 9/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 5:25 PM Gerald Chung shoved his big blind over an under-the-gun open from Trevor Patrick. Patrick called for a race between his pocket fours and K♥J♠ for Patrick. Chung flopped a Broadway draw, but then bricked the [invalid notations]6sQcAdAc9d[/pcn runout, and fours held to get them to the final table.
-
Jeffrey Harcourt Out in 11th Place for $4,315
Level: 22 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 10/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 5:15 PM They are 1 elimination off the final table in the Main Event after Jeffrey Harcourt ended his day in 11th place. I missed the action while I was out of the room.
There is another break coming in just under 30 minutes, and I’ll get another round of full chip counts then. Adam Mill is still leading the way with about 3 million in play.
-
Samuel Ngai Out in 12th Place for $4,315

-
Defending Champ Out in 13th Place for $3,755
Level: 22 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 12/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 4:55 PM The money went in on the flop after Adam Mill flopped a club draw with A♣Q♣ against a pair of threes for Oakley with ace-three. Mill bricked the turn, but found his third club on the river to send the defending champ home in 13th place.
-
Mike Malm Out in 14th Place for $3,755
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 13/306 Prizes: $287,793 Local Time: 4:45 PM Mike Malm raised to 100k from the hijack, leaving just fumes behind. Jarret Gray made it 200k, enough to put Malm all in if he called.
