Two more events are in the books for the 2026 Summer Super Stack at Deerfoot Inn & Casino, with one of two flights complete in the Megastack game, the second multi-flight game of the series. On Tuesday, the big game was the 6-Max, a $1k buy-in with 6 players per table, while Wednesday action saw the biggest PLO game of the series, the $600 PLO.
Wednesday also marked the first flight of the Megstack, the middle game of three multi-flight games in this series. It was a great start to the Mega, with almost 140 entries and $66k in prizes already waiting for Friday’s Day 2.
Tuesday’s 6-Max game drew 104 entries for prizes of $88,920, while the $600 PLO game got 98 entries for $50,274 in the kitty. With those two games included, the series total so far is already over $500k, and when the Day 1a results from the Megastack are tacked on, the prizes are just shy of $600k. Day 1b of the Megastack is expected to get to around 200 entries, and that would put the combined prizes to more than $650k, with the Main Event still to come.

Ronnie Dattani Takes Down 6-Max Game

Event #11: $1,000 6 Max ($900 + $100)
We don’t see Ronnie Dattani out all that often during a series, but if the buy-in is $1k or more, there’s a solid chance you’ll see Dattani in the field. And there’s an equally solid chance you’ll see him in the endgame as well.
Dattani was one of 104 entries for the $1k 6-Max game on Tuesday, and he was his usual disciplined self. He spent most of the day amassing the big stack for the final table.
The game had a strange pace. They got to the bubble with 11 remaining in less than 8.5 hours from the start of play, but they sat on the bubble for about 2.5 hours before Colten Yamagishi finally busted out on the bubble just before 1 AM.
After that, they broke into a sprint, with the final table set less than half an hour later. By that point, Dattani was on a million chips and was the clear leader, with Shane Brotherwood about 250k behind Dattani.
The final table was nearly as quick as the rest of the money play. In the end, they went through all the money spots in less real time than they spent on the bubble, trying to get to the money.
As is usually the case in a 6-Max, the endgame was full of the “usual suspects”. In addition to Dattani & Brotherwood, the final seven featured Daniel Lefebvre, Mike Malm, and Aidan Klingbeil, along with Glenn Tarasoff and Todd “The Rock”.
Dattani was the table captain through basically all of the final table. As is usually the case, he wasn’t particularly flashy about it, instead relying on solid reads, heavy aggression, and disciplined folds.
After about an hour at the final table, Dattani was heads-up against Malm. Dattani had the big lead going into heads-up, and despite a couple of doubles, Malm was unable to find a way to cut into Dattani’s stack significantly.
That’s not to say the two players, who had never shared a table before Tuesday’s game despite both being fairly regular in the scene, weren’t showing off their moves. Malm showed he wasn’t scared to put his chips in with a flop check-shove on Dattani when the flop came ace high, and very wheeely.
Dattani answered back with a move of his own in the next pot, overbetting the pot on the river by more than 2x, leaving Malm confused and tanking for several minutes before passing on his hand.
In the end, Dattani’s advantage was just too big for Malm to overcome, and the game ended when Malm flopped a straight flush draw against top-top for Dattani. Malm bricked the runout to leave Dattani’s pair of queens as the best hand for another big win for Dattani.
It was Dattani’s first cash of the series, but as far as I’ve seen, it was also his first event of the series, so he looks to be running at 100%. For Malm’s part, this was cash #3, with a win in Event #3, and a 5th place in Event #5 before his second-place finish in this one.

Malm Gets 4th Cash, Skiffington Deals for the Win in $600 PLO

Event #13: $600 PLO ($540 + $60)
The $600 PLO game was a sprint from start to end. While the predicted end time for this game was 3 AM or later, the players had another idea. Barely 10.5 hours after the game began at 2 PM, the final three players decided to cut a deal to end it.
They got to the bubble in about 8 hours, then blew through the bubble in just a couple of hands. Dean Moronne, who won the $560 PKO earlier in the series, was the first player out in the money, setting up a final table that had Peter Darlington in the lead.
PLO is a swingy game, however, and after Michael Wo and Michael Flanagan busted out for 9th & 8th, respectively, Darlington was on the short stack and out in 7th place. That gave Dylan Skiffington the lead, and he never looked back. He sent Gerry Edwards and Larry Chernenkoff out before Ali Khani got it three ways after sending Dylan Payne home in 4th place.
The final three players played a couple of hands before they started the deal talks. The chips had evened out a bit, with Skiffington still in the lead, Khani close behind in second, and Mike Malm on the short stack for 3rd. They ran the ICM numbers, made a small adjustment to get Malm up to $10k, and called it a night.
This was Malm’s 4th cash of the series and 3rd podium (including the win in Event #3), so he’s having a solid series and is making a concerted run at a 3rd straight Alberta Poker Index Player of the Year. It was the first cash for both Khani and Skiffington.

Event #12: $560 Megastack ($500 + $60) Day 1a
The opening flight to the Megastack was the 3rd game underway over the last couple of days at the Summer Super Stack. The Megastack is the second of three multi-flight games, and comes in the middle of the buy-in range at $560.
After 1 flight, Julius Roque sits atop the chip counts with more than 600k in his bag. Matt Gudmundson, who was 3rd in the 1-Day Deepstack while leader Roque was winning it, bagged the second stack from 1a, also more than half a million chips.
A total of 14 bags emerged from the end of 1a, with more than $66k in the Day 2 prizes. The final flight is underway on Thursday, and should see a field of 200 entries or more.
