  • Hand for Hand

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:18/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are one elimination away from the end of Day 1a now with 18 players left in the game. There is one hand remaining in Level 15 before they take a break so it looks likely they’ll play a few hands in Level 16 after the break before it all ends for today.

  • 2 Off the End of 1a

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:19/137
    Prizes:$128,849

There are about 20 minutes to play in Level 15 with the field now at 19 players left. They’ll break down to two tables after the next elimination and go hand-for-hand until the end of the night. OIt’s still looking like late in Level 15 or earl Level 16 for the bags to come out.

  • Four off the Bags

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:21/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 21 left in 1a now with Level 15 just beginning. Based on the current pace, it looks likely the bags will come out sometime in Level 15 or early Level 16.

  • Vijayaratnam leads with 24 Left

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:24/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 24 left now in Day 1a with just under 20 minutes to play in Level 14. That puts them 7 off the bags with Sen Vijayaratnam leading the way with more than 500k while Jeff Forester still looks to be second with just over 400k.

  • 10 Off the Bags with Three Tables Left

    Level:13 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:27/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to the final three tables with 27 players remaining in Day 1a. That leaves them just 10 players off the end of the day at 17 remaining.

  • A Few Big Stacks

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:32/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 32 players left to start Levey 13 and there are three stacks out there that look to be over 300k. Sen Vijayaratnam looks to be the big one with about 380k in front of him while Jeff Forester has about 325k and Geordi Lobe has just over 300k.

  • Down to 4 Tables

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:36/137
    Prizes:$128,849

There are about 30 minutes to play in Level 12 with a break scheduled following this level. The field is now down to 36 players left with the bags coming out at 17 players.

  • Five Tables Left

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:44/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 44 players left in Day 1a with about 15 minutes to play in Level 11. There will be another break following Level 12 and I’ll have a look around then for some big stacks. They’ll play tonight until there are 17 left.

  • Down to 54 Remaining

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:54/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 54 players left in 1a of the Main as Level 11 begins. They’ll be playing down to either 17 or 18 later tonight with all bagging players in the money.

  • 137 Entries for 1a

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:57/137
    Prizes:$128,849

Entries are now closed for the opening flight of the Main Event, and it was a pretty decent showing with 137 entries on the board when it all closed down. That puts the prizes so far just shy of $129k with the full Day 1b yet to play.

There is a satellite for tomorrow’s flight kicking off in the Pearl Room right now, so players who bust late, or players just looking for a cheap shot at the Main, have a chance to get in for a fraction of the cost.

  • Some Big Dinner Stacks

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:58/135
    Prizes:$126,968

After a quick wander around during the dinner break, it looks like Skyler York is the big stack right now with 212k in front of him. Brett Worton is pretty close behind with 201k while John Huynh looks to be 3rd with 172k right now.

  • 135 Entries for Dinner

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:58/135
    Prizes:$126,968

Dinner has just begun which means there are about 40 minutes left to enter today’s first flight. The current prizes from 1a are at nearly $127k and it’s likely there will be a few more entries before they sit down for Level 10. They need another 4 entries over the dinner break to crack $130k for today’s prize pool.

  • Final Level of Entry

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:66/129
    Prizes:$121,325

The Day 1a prizes are now over $120k with 129 entries on the board. There are about 30 minutes to play in Level 9 which puts the last chance to buy into today’s flight in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

  • Nearing 120 Entries

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:67/118
    Prizes:$110,979

The prizes are now over $110k with 118 entries on the board to start Level 8. That leaves just over 2 hours in the registration period for today’s flight so another ~10 entries or so seems very reasonable before it finishes making today’s prize pool likely in the range of $120k or more.

  • More than $100k in Prizes

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:68/110
    Prizes:$103,455

The prizes are now over $100k with 110 entries on the board and $103k in prizes. There are just over 2.5 hours left to get into today’s flight, so a final prize pool approaching $120k for the opening flight is definitely within sight.

  • More than 100 Entries for 1a

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:65/104
    Prizes:$97,812

They are three entries away from $100k in prizes with the field already over 100 entries for the opening flight. There are still a bit less than 3 hours left until the entry desk closes at about 7:15 pm, so plenty of time to cap $100k and then some.

  • Nearing 100 Entries for 1a

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:63/94
    Prizes:$88,407

The prizes are closing in on $90k here on Day 1a with 94 entries on the board now. Level 5 is nearly complete with 63 players still at the felt. They need another 13 entries to push the 1a prizes over $100k, so that looks like a lock with about 3 hours and 40 minutes left to enter today’s flight.

  • 82 Entries

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:63/82
    Prizes:$77,121

It’s a pretty decent turnout so far for the opening flight to the Main Event. The prizes are already over $75k with 82 entries on the board and it looks like a lock at this point to have more than $100k in the kitty before entries close today.

Among the players I spotted on my last tour of the room included Geordi Lobe, Garry Sandhu, Stephen Suaphinais, Eric Wasylenko (who has locked up the PPT Player of the Year race already with a couple of Main Event wins earlier in the year and another side event win this series), Mal Hagan, Dylan Webb, Graham Lupton, Deven Lane, Mike Malm, Ed Zurawell, Rob Limpert, Andy Truong, Haven Taylor, MIke Kim, Kyle Bonazzo, Leonard Siebenga, and WSOP-C Main Event ring winner Cody McKay.

  • 70 Entries on First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:61/70
    Prizes:$65,835

The Main Event players are on their first break of 1a with 70 entries on the board and 61 players till at the felt. There are still more than 5 hours left to enter today’s flight, so it’s looking like a reasonably good start for the opening flight to the Main.

I’ve just arrived in the room, but a few of the faces I’ve spotted already are Jerry Tria, Gerald Chung, Ryan Comely, Tony Comely, John Donnelly, Jeff Forester, Taran Parmar, Rob Lothian, DJ Sharma (fresh off his 3rd place in last night’s Turbo game), Ian Alvarado, the winner from last series Michael “Berny” Bernstein, Scott Munro, Colten Yamagishi, Ryan Smith, Brett Worton, Michael Khan, Marc Lavergne, Jimmy Lee, and Thomas Taylor.

  • It’s Main Event Time!

    Event:Event #14: $1,100 Main Event Day 1A ($990 + $110)
    Date:Nov 29, Noon
    Blinds:40 Minutes
    Starting Stack:30k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~7:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:12.5% of the field

It’s time for the opening flight to the Main Event. Friday at noon is the first chance to take a shot at landing on Day 2. Players buy in for $1,100 and get 30k to start. Levels on Day 1 are 40 minutes long, but they’ll move up to 60 on Day 2.

Entries are open for 9 levels plus breaks with the desk scheduled to close at about 7:15 pm on Day 1. After that, it will be a race down to 12.5% of the field, however long that takes.

Friday is the first of two Day 1 flights and there is a satellite to Day 1b Friday evening at 7:30 pm so players have plenty of chances to bag a stack for Sunday’s Day 2 and the money.

I’ll likely be late getting to the Pearl Room as Thursday was a late night, but I hope to be on the floor shortly after the first break.

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:23/179 (40/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

Day 1b is complete now with 23 players left. Francis Fan, who won the Turbo game on Thursday, was the bubble tonight when he ran into Mike Malm’s pocket aces. Stay tuned for the chip counts from 1b and the seats for Day 2 coming in the next hour or two.

  • Official Bubble

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:24/179 (41/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

They are down to 24 players left and there are 23 minutes to play in Level 16. They are still hand-for-hand until the next elimination.

  • Two off the Bags

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:25/179 (42/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

They are two away from the bags coming out with 25 players left in 1b. The clock is already paused for hand-for-hand play as there was some tanking. They are at the end of Level 15 so they are taking a break and will be back in 15 minutes to finish it out.

Nathan Masih looks to be the leader still with around 600k in front of him.

  • 10 Off the Bags

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:33/179 (50/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

They are down to 33 players left with a bit more than 20 minutes to play in Level 14, putting them 10 players off the bags coming out. Day 1a ended on the final hand of Level 15, and it’s looking like 1b will end at about the same time.

  • Down to 40 Left

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:40/179 (57/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

Level 14 has just begun and they are now 17 off the bags with 40 players at the felt. There is another break following Level 15, assuming they make it that far.

  • Jatinder Brar Leading 1b at Break

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:48/179 (65/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

There are 48 players left at the break following Level 12 with Jatinder Brar leading the way. He has 361k in front of him at the break, while Nathan Masih has about 270k which looks like the second stack in the room right now.

They are playing down to 23 tonight and based on the current pace of play, I’m expecting today’s flight to end around the same time as 1a, near the end of Level 15 or the start of 16.

  • 66 Left Halfway Through Level 11

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:66/179 (83/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

Theya re down to 66 left in the final flight with 20 minutes to play in Level 11. There is a break following Level 12 and I’ll have a look around at the break to see who has a few chips in front of them.

  • Final Numbers Confirmed

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:78/179 (95/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

The final numbers are confirmed with 316 entries across both starting flights for $297,198 in combined prizes. That puts the top payout at $62,468 with the min-cash in 40th place worth $1,810.

Day 1b will play down to 23 players tonight before the bags come out and 40 players will be coming back on Sunday for Day 2 with everyone in the money. Full prizes will be under the Payouts tab shortly but the top nine payouts are below.

Final Table Prizes for the Main

    PlacePrize
    1$62,468
    2$43,020
    3$27,960
    4$21,510
    5$16,560
    6$13,120
    7$10,330
    8$8,170
    9$6,670
  • 179 Entries for 1b

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:78/179 (95/316)
    Prizes:$168,350 ($297,198)

Entries are now closed for the Main Event with 179 on the board for 1b and 316 in total. That puts the combined prizes just shy of $300k and, assuming the number holds, will mean 22 players advancing from today’s flight for a total of 40 returning players on Day 2.

I’ll confirm all those numbers shortly once the prizes are complete.

  • More than 300 Entries

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:77/169 (94/306)
    Prizes:$158,945 ($287,793)

The combined field is now closing in on 310 entries for prizes of $287,793. Level 9 is just finishing with dinner about to start so, while we should expect a few more entries during the dinner break, the final combined field will likely end up somewhere around 310 for prizes around $290k.

  • Final Level of Entry for Main Event

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:84/160 (101/297)
    Prizes:$150,480 ($279,329)

The combined field is now just three entries away from 300 as Level 9 kicks off. This is the final level of poker for entries, but the desk will stay open until the end of the dinner break to follow. That puts the end of entries about 85 minutes away.

  • Nearing $275k in Prizes

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:84/153 (101/290)
    Prizes:$143,897 ($272,745)

The 1b field is up to 153 entries now with just over 2 hours of entry left in the final flight. That puts the two day total at 290 entries for prizes of $272,745 and climbing. It’s a bit of an open question if they’ll make it to $300k or not as they need 30 more entries to hit that total, but a combined field of more than 300 seems like a lock at this point.

  • More than $255k in Prizes

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:90/135 (107/272)
    Prizes:$126,968 ($255,816)

The combined prizes are now over $255k with 272 entries on the board across both starting days. A few additional players I’ve spotted in the field today include Tony Comely, Steve Chung, Jeffery Clarke, Joe Herlein, Leonard Siebenga, and Ian Alvarado.

  • Closing in on $250k in Prizes

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:92/121 (109/258)
    Prizes:$113,801 ($242,649)

The combined prizes are now over $240k and climbing with Level 5 about half complete. The 1b field is at 121 for a two-day total of 258 and combined prizes of $242,649.

  • More than 100 Entries

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:87/107 (104/244)
    Prizes:$100,634 ($229,482)

The 1b prizes are now over $100k with 107 entries in the pool so far today. That puts the combined prizes at almost $230k already with nearly 250 total entries with just under 5 hours left to enter today’s final flight.

  • More Familiar Faces

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:81/93
    Prizes:$216,315

A few more of the players I spotted on my last trip around the room were Cindy Grabia, Ed Zurawell, Jolnar Teliani, Rob Limpert, Shawn Taghavi, Francis Fan, Holly Berry, Mal Hagan, Mike Kim, Michael Khan, Ryan Comely, Matthew Ouelette, and Ross Wilson.

  • More than 90 Entries

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:79/91
    Prizes:$214,434

The field is approaching 100 entries, and it looks like they may hit that number before the first break of the day. The two-day prizes are currently just shy of $215k and climbing with my expectation that the total prizes will pass $300k later today.

  • 80 Entries to Start Level 3

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:74/80
    Prizes:$204,089

The combined prizes are over $200k with Level 3 just underway today. There are 80 entries on the board to start Level 3 with 74 players still at the felt.. Among the players I’ve spotted so far today are Malcolm Bolger, Colten Yamagishi, Ron Lauzon, Johnny Dalphond, Jason Heang, Johnny Yu, Shane Brotherwood, Haven Taylor, Jerry Li, Stephen Dauphinais, and Micholas MIlkovitch.

  • Vijayaratnam Will be Tough to Beat for 1b Players

    Event:Event #14: $1,100 Main Event Day 1B ($990 + $110)
    Date:Nov 30, Noon
    Blinds:40 Minutes
    Starting Stack:30k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~7:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:12.5% of the field
    Day 1a Entries:17/137
    Day 1a Prizes:$128,849

Day 1a was a pretty big one with 137 entries on the board and 17 players getting through to Day 2. That means the prizes are sitting at $128,849 going into the second and final opening flight for the Main Event.

Day 1b kicks off at noon on Saturday and as always, it promises to be bigger than 1a. I’m expecting a field of 200 or more for the final flight, but players will have a chore beating the Day 1a leading stack of Sen Vijayartnam who bagged up 931k at the end of Day 1a.

That was more than 500k more than Jeff Forester in second with 393k and Jimmy Lee in third with 380k and, even with more chips in play on 1b, it’s going to be a challenge to best that total.

As with Day 1a, players for 1b will buy in for 30k in chips to play 40-minute levels throughout the day with Day 2 moving to 60 minutes. They’ll have 9 levels to enter or rebuy with the cutoff coming around 7:15 PM. Day 1 play continues until the field is down to 12.5% of the start, however long that takes with all players in Day 2 guaranteed at least a min-cash.

  • Stephen Dauphinais Wins First PPT Trophy

Stephen Dauphinais, winner of the Main Event

Stephen Dauphinais started Day 2 with a middling stack of 341k, putting him 10th out of the 40 returning players. About 13 hours later, he had all 9.5 million in front of him after taking down the start-of-day leader Sen Vijayaratnam. He played a solid game and got heads-up after Vijayaratnam busted most of the final table in front of him.

He was at a deficit for most of heads-up, but had a short time in the lead about halfway through the final phase of the game. That quickly evaporated as Vijayaratnam pulled back ahead when he flopped a flush and took a big pot. Dauphinais doubled back to near even when his pocket fours won a race against king-ten, then took the lead in a big pot where Vijayaratnam had to fold the river when the flush came.

The game didn’t last much longer after that. A few hands later they ran into a big confrontation when Dauphinais open jammed almost 40 bigs with ace-jack and Vijayaratnam called with a smaller stack and the dominated ace-ten. The board was clean for the jack kicker and Dauphinais took down his first PPT trophy.

He had a huge score this past summer in Vegas with 3rd in the Millionaire Maker for $651k (USD) and this score tonight will put him within spitting distance of 7 figures on Hendon Mob.
